    JA Fedora – Userguide

    JA Fedora, is the 1 april template and we have called Clean Business Joomla, this template is delivered with 4 different color options for you to choose from.

    A simple, clean, lightweight template that suits perfect for you clean business.
    New addition to our repository of modules is JA Catpopup module.

    • For users who start your Joomla! site at the beginning, I recommend you using QuickStart package of JA Fedora, named as ja_fedora_quickstart.zip. For instruction how to use JoomlArt quickstart package, please check the QuickStart guide
    • For users who new to Joomla!, there are many useful documents available at http://joomla.org about Joomla! and how to use, please spend some time to check them out.

    • For users that already have a site with contents and other extensions installed, please follow my instruction below to understand how JA Fedora works:

    I. TEMPLATE

    1.1 Template Installation

    After downloading JA Fedora package and extract it, you will find template package named: ja_fedora_template.zip

    Proceed installation of JA Fedora as other normal Joomla! templates. If you don’t know how to do installation or set a template as default, please check the How to install Joomla! template guide.

    After installing and setting JA Fedora as default template, your site should look like this:

    To see position located in site, in Navigation toolbar input string “?tp=1” at the end of site link

    1.2 Template Configuration

    To configure JA Fedora template, check How to configure Joomla! template guide!

    You can change all JA Fedora parameters as you wish.

    1. Logo type: Logo display in site, has two type: Image and Text
    2. Logo text: text displayed in logo if you choose Logo type is Text.
    3. Slogan: Slogan displays below logo
    4. Font size : Increase/Decrease font size (from 1 to 6).
    5. Template Width: type of template screen (Wide/Narrow screen)
    6. Color Variation: 3 color themes (default, orange, green, red)
    7. Menu Type: type of menu displayed in site (Mainmenu/Topmenu…..)
    8. Menu Module: include Split/Css/Moo/dropline menu
    9. Show Component: two option Yes or No

    Please click here for JA Fedora module positions and its arrangement. Base on module positions, you can publish your modules on them to match JA Fedora style.

    If you don’t know how to create module position in Joomla!, please follow this guide

    1.3 JA Catpopup module

    You check How to install Joomla! module guidefor installation.

    After success install, select Modules >> Site Modules, then select JA Catpopup.

    Make a copy of it:

    NOTE: To make this work you need to have one copy of this module published to a module position called catpopup

    1. Enable the module, and set it to the position you want, remember you need one copy published to a position “catpopup”.
    2. Select menu items you want the module to show up on.
    3. Settings of the module
    • Select Category:

    • Popup Window Height:
    • Number of Items:

    1. 4. The template does not look good at all now?

    First log into the admin panel, go to Menu>Main Menu, there you unpublish so many items that you can see breaks the layout, in this case i need to unpublish three items.
    Go to Extensions> Module Manager, find the module called mod_login and publish to top position.position, set Show Title: No
    Create a new module and use the module function Custom HTML and add this code(NOTE: I have copied the image called topsl1.png and added put in a folder called “demo” inside the images/stories folder of my Joomla version):

    II. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Q: Where can I change my footer?
    A: You can open up the templates folder and go to the folder html>mod_footer, open that file and you see this:

    Q: What’s a module style? And module class suffix?
    A module style or a module suffix is a way for you to style each module individually. If you open up a module and see the settings of it you can see you have a field called Module Suffix, the code mentioned below is what you can use in this template.This template have 3 suffixes:
    _menu
    _text
    _hilite

    By default Joomla 1.5.2 have the suffix _menu to the main menu module.

    Q: I changed my default color/font/resolution but when I refresh the page, it didn’t change?
    A: JA template use client’s cookie to save your preferences. If you made change to default value, please close the browser, open a blank new window and then clear the browser’s cookie. You’ll see the new preferences applied.

    Q: Not all module positions is listed in the position dropdown menu?
    A: Dont worry, if there is a module position you have added in the template and not listed you can just type in the position name next to Position:

    Q: Some of my menu looks horrible. Why?
    A: Menus in JA templates are designed with the most semantic mark up are used over the net, it’s the list style. If you made change to the menu type, go to you menu module and change the menu type parameter to Flat List. It will solve the problem.

    Q: I want to change some graphic contents
    A: PSD/PNG files and fonts can be found in the template’s source package. Please download the file at our download page in case you need to modify something. If you don’t have Photoshop you can download a trial version from here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/?ogn=EN_US-gntray_dl_trialdownloads

    Q: It’s just a template, why need so many steps to configure and install?
    A: No, it’s more than just a template. The package we provided included template and related modules, components and source files. The page you see in our demo site is the set of template + module + component. If you want to make your site look like the demo page, you need to follow our instructions above.
    If you feel the template can be hard to set up or you are new to Joomla, dont worry. We have prepared a quick start package for you. This package give you a complete Joomla installation just as you can see on our demo site. In a few steps you have installed the template and Joomla with demo content. NOTE: This can not be used on an already installed site.
