I got the Flowlist working on my test site (malestorm.com) but it took quite a while because the documentation does not really explain how images are taken from documents in the category specified — I think it would help everyone just to elaborate a bit more on this subject in the docs – or even provide an example.😉

    OK now my questions.
1 ) The flash object seems very sensitive to mouse clicks. It is very difficult to reposition the images without selecting one for articles to display by accident. Could it be possible to either require a double click for article selection? Or alternatively, make the repositioning of the items a mouseover instead of a mouseclick? – it would solve the problem and appear to user a bit more sophisticated too.

    2) Is there a way to point to a category and only show the most recently added articles? Can you limit the number of articles in the list?

    3) There seems to be a lot of wasted space at the bottom of the flash spotlight area. The parameters allow you to specify the height of the image and such, but there is still at least 80px of wasted space at the bottom. Any suggestions on how to eliminate the excessive blank space?

    4) How does the use of this module impact performance. In the testing of the module I am showing excessive hits against the database, even causing my isp to have to reset the connection. This is just with me testing – no user traffic.

    Many thanks,
    Scott

I too am looking for a solution to the same problems Scott is facing. Specifically I am interested a way to make the repositioning of the flowlist images to be a mouse over instead of instead of a mouse click. I could live with some sort of slider/scrollbar too which I have seen with some other components similiar to JA_Flowlist thru other places but would prefer not to add anything more to the look of the design.

Also I need to eliminate the wasted space at the bottom of the spotlight area. Is this something in the flash file that can be modified or is it simply a css thing. Any information to this matter is most greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance,
    kristofer
