    Hello,

There seems to be a new version of Ja Hawkstore and I’m trying to decide if it is wise to update and also trying to understand if I will lose data with the update.

    1. Our Hacks

    A. Virtuemart – we’ve created two new positions – but we used vm template overrides for both of these.

    B. We made small design changes but we did this by creating a new theme with the template manager > Theme magic.

    2. Template upgrade

Are we safe to just back up … and choose the update option in JA Extensions manager?
Will all other programming and configurations be saved?
What are the steps to manually upgrade?

    Please advise

ALWAYS back-up your entire site – and databases – when preparing to update/upgrade anything.

As for updating the template . . . definitely create a full back-up, and then give it a shot. As you identified, you are likely going to have to re-establish some of your custom hacks and CSS – unless you had already created a custom.css file with CSS modifications within … in which case all you need do is put that custom.css back into the correct file path.

    Make Sense?

    Hi Tom,

Hmmm Ok… If I understand correctly it sounds like the answer is YES we will lose data. Ok I’ll review the template override documentation that you’ve provided.

    Thank you

    Hello Tom,

If you’re still available for this post…. please direct me to the documentation or instructions for upgrading
Ja Hawkstore… I think I have one of the first beta issues. And there are problems that have been fixed
    with newer versions.

    Thanks,

    Romello

ALWAYS back-up your entire site – and databases – when preparing to update/upgrade anything.

You can then update your template via the EXTENSION MANAGER
