Problem: JA Highslide breaks admin menus when enabled in JA Trona

I was able to recreate the problem by doing the following from the beginning.

login to the Cpanel at http://www.getactivegethealthyhavefun.com/cpanel with supplied username and password.

Because currently the menus are missing you will need to remove the Joomla installation and reinstall it. And then install the JA Trona template and the extensions and plugins.

    enable the highslide plugin,

enable the highslide module and make the normal changes to the configuration and then save it and …wha lah! no more menus????

I have been able to re create this over 3x before writing this post I know how to break it but have no clue how to fix and keep it from happening again.

you have my permission to make changes in the Cpanel for this domain untill 2pm sunday EST USA in which if there is no resolution to this or atleast an idea of whats going on i will have to change the template and finish the website that i am suppose to have done on monday…ahh!

please let me know ASAP anything that you can come up with.

    Thanks,
    Ron

Have you tried viewing with a different browser?

It is really hard to say without seeing it but the top menu’s are one of the last bits to load. I cannot see how the JA side of things is killing it and I hate to say that it sounds like a server issue but it does.

Are you getting any error messages?

I am using HostGator as my host I will try get them to access the logs and see if they see anything out of the ordinary. But my server side control panel is telling me that everything is running fine especialy SQL which I think is the culprit. I am going to try to recreate the problem to see if I can pin point when it is happening.

I have the same problem, I’ve re-installed twice, everything is OK till I configure Highslide. All the menus dissapeared. The only solution for it is to re-install Joomla again and lost all my work???

    Hi evandrosu

When you installed this extension and saw that case, please open your database, find #__modules table (#__ is your prefix) and repair it.

At that time, your administrator will work fine.

    Hello,

It looks like the problem with the Highslide module crashing the site is old and has not been fixed yet. I am a new member and downloaded Quartz today. I have the same problem with highslide crashing all my menus in the backend…

The trouble is that I can’t fix the cpanel as suggested. After a while if I refresh my browser, the menus are appearing again. But no way to access the Highslide module without crashing the menus.

I tried with Firefox, Safari and Explorer. No success.

The point is: I took a one year membership today in order to download Quartz and make it work just like the demo. If this is not possible (as I can’t figure out how to fix the Highslide issue), there is no point in spending hours and hours on this matter.

I still have 7 days in order to ask for a refund. Unless someone gives me (and many other users for that matter) a final solution. And I don’t mean a solution that asks me to go and play with the database. I mean a solution that give me a proper way to install a new and working version of that module. I am not a programmer and have no programing skills. As many other here, I go by the book and read manuals. If the module has bugs it should be replaced, or updated… not asking the customers to mess up with their databases.

Thanks for your reply, and sorry if my tone seemed “rude”. I have spent many hours on this already and did’nt find any suitable solution. I just exepcted this to work…

The previous poster was asked to work with his database because it was corrupt. That is not a problem with the highslide module but an issue on his setup. I have a number of installs on my local machine for testing and one live site using Quartz and have never experienced a problem.

In your case you should raise a ticket via the ticket system and a developer can then look into your problem.

Thanks for your comments. I have already posted a ticket.

Anyway, many users are experiencing exactly the same issue. I don’t think it’s a coincidence:)

Out of interest, why are you posting this in the Trona forums? Trona is quite an old template and the errors are in no way related to quartz.

That was the advice, which worked! Unfortunately, only for the first time. In my database there is no “repair” button, only “refresh” button, which solved the problem anyway. Now I have the issue again and “refresh” button does not work anymore. Any ideas, what can help? Choose another template maybe?…And start it over again?

    Hi veksha

Could you give me your cpanel and admin account via PM? I want to check this issue so that i could have a closer look on the issue.

    Hy again!

Thank a lot for the promt reply. I am working now locally, can noy send you this info and fortunately after trying refreshing again and again, the problem was solved.

Anyway, I have a question about templates. Do you have some kind of rating of your templates, like which ones produces lesser problems and bugs? I am a new one to the site-making, thats why I am looking for the template which causes no problems at all. I have tried 2 joomlart templates, both sent me to the forums, looking for problems solving… Judging from this perspective, what is the best template of joomlart, in your opinion? 🙂

I think you will find every piece of web softwae out there is not perfect. The more complex the code gets the more problems may occur. All JA templates are very good but not everyone uses them in exactly the same way. For instance, one user could be using extensions x+y+z on server J but another may be using extensions a+b+c on server setup m. As everyone is differenall variables cannot be accounted for so problems will always creep in. It is at these times that you can turn for help and the JA team will always try.

Pick whichever template looks best for your needs and if you run into problems then just ask and we will try to help.
