I thought Topaz looked great for my needs. So joined this template club and downloaded and installed it. From looking at the template and reading here it seems like this template has a lot of bugs that need to get fixed. Then I wondered how long it might take for them to fix it so I did a scan of all the version numbers of the templates. The first 1.1 version I could find was was for Nagya 8-8-2008. There were 19 templates after it and not one has been updated that I can see. Then I did a scan of this specific forum for Topaz and found not one comment from the company. It seems that users are very supportive helping other users and that is great, but it strikes me as odd the company has not been on this forum once. So, before I dive in and start installing other templates since at this moment Topaz will not work for me, can anyone who has been with this company for a while give me a heads up on them. From reading your posts a lot of you seem passionate about JA. Feel free to set me straight if you think I’m out of line.

    Thanks.

oh yes they have, there a paid moderators that actively participate, some more than others.

and Hung, the JA “fearless leader”, is known to keep track of the posts in the forums, occassionaly make posts himself when needed, and kick some staff butt

JA does participate. some think its enough, some will always think it is not enough, but thats not going to change, every one has different expectations of support and no company can please everyone

    but, to answer your statement

JA is good and do participate in the forums, and they will log into your site and fix template related issues when needed

That’s funny, considering all I’ve had are issues with my one template, that they have altered files (like the JA News files) with. And many emails later, no one can assist me, the template is always displaying incorrectly, and I have to display it at a basic level because I can’t be bothered downloading any other templates, with all the bugs.

In short, if you’re a developer who can go through the code, then rock on. But if you’re just joining to download templates, go somewhere where the help is faster, more professional, and people actually know what they’re doing. Here, all they seem to do is to upload templates without testing them adequately.

I’m not renewing my membership here. I’ve recently requested help, and I’ve received nothing but STUPID advice, such as downloading a JA NEWS module from the Quartz template for my Dravity template. I’ve just had enough with the rubbish, delays and inept service.

MJ above may say that were are adequate replies in the forum, but that’s a lie as well.

I can’t actually believe that the people who own this site charge money for a crap service. NEVER AGAIN.

I did not say there were adequate replies

what i said is that the level of service is subjective to individual expectations

    read again

JA also does not answer to issues not related to the templates, so if virtuemart, joomla itself, and extension and such is not working, you need to go to the vm forum, joomla forum, or directly to that extensions provider.

They draw a line, and they have to. Many of the complainers, (and i do not know your situation or skill sets, and exclude you from this comment) do not understand where joomla the architecture and the template (which is really just a layer over the architecture) begins and ends. As such, there is a misunderstand and an unreal expectation of just what JA is responsible for.

There is also a misconception with many users that joomla is an out of the box solution that requires NO skill sets. That is just plain wrong. No where is that promoted.

Users need to have at least the basics of editing files, ftp, php, html, mysql, and css to successfully work with joomla and these templates. Without these skills, you will have problems and in the end, JA will end up building your whole site for you if they do not draw the line. I’ve tried to help people here myself, only to find out that I cannot just fix in issue for them, the help needed would never stop and i would just end up doing the whole site for them.

So there are two sides to the equation, and believe me, JA is far from perfect, but we need to take into consideration the skill sets of the users, what customer service really entails, and JA could improve its participation in the forum and customer support. But to say there is none, is just wrong.

that said, chaosnoir, pm me your site and i will take a look, what browser is causing the issue

However frustrated you are does not give you the right to insult other members or call them liars!!!

If you are having difficulty getting your questions answered try submitting a ticket, ensure your ftp details are given.
Or try asking for help from the development staff in your post, this also involves leaving your admin details…having read your post I can see you have not done this.

Leaving messages like the one below will get you nowhere also upsetting members like mj1256 who has nearly 200 thanks from other members for his help is also not really the best approach.
