Greetings Moh:Though I am not to be quoted nor my statement to be taken as solid confirmation . . . but from what I have been hearing amongst the JA Support and Management Teams . . . we are waiting for the K2 Developers to release their stable J1.7 compatible version of the K2 CCK before we will begin integrating it, once again, into our templates.
This does not mean that you cannot install and try to configure the current K2 RC (release candidate) – which is J1.7 compatible. After all, K2 is a free 3rd Party component.

September 18, 2011 at 5:30 pm #413440@moh – K2 is waiting for the next stable release – 1.6, and 1.7 were only meant to be short term releases (only supported for 7 months) – so Joomlaworks made the decision to just wait until the next stable release, which would them be supported for the following 2 years.
As Tom mentioned, they do have an RC out, which, in my testing, has been very, very stable, but feel free to evaluate it yourself!Unfortunately, Joomlart really can’t develop an add-on for something that is not stable, since crucial changes are still taking place in K2 that would render our work useless!

September 27, 2011 at 2:01 pm #415278Joomlaworks (just like every other extension developer) releases RC’s and Beta versions for public testing – for users to test, find bugs, and report them so they can be fixed.
As long as K2 is in RC stage, that tells us that the software is not entirely stable, there are still problems with it that Joomlaworks is working on.As such, Joomlart cannot develop add-on extensions for a software that still has harmful bugs – and definitely cannot include K2 in quickstarts when there are obvious problems.
Joomlart is already working on updates to these extensions for you, but we can’t release a product that is not ready, as an addon to a product that is also not ready!
That wouldn’t be fair to ourselves, or to the user to give them buggy software.1 user says Thank You to jneubauer for this useful post

Ummm, did we miss something here ??How is the timing of the release of the K2 2.5 and the expiration date of your JAEC Membership period JA’s fault? When you signed up for your JAEC Membership, were you not able to utilize the K2 Search & Filter extension within your J1.5 template based site(s)?

October 27, 2011 at 2:06 am #421782hello All,
I believe to make this extension to work with J1.7 will take about 2 days from Joomlart developers they said there is no stable K2 now there is one
so
when do you think they will make work with K2 2.5 and j1.7?
Kind Regards,

I am curious . . . from where did you receive this estimate of “to make this extension to work with J1.7 will take about 2 days from Joomlart developers” ??

All the documentation you need for the new K2 would be on the K2 website – tell your developer to knock himself out.😎
