I am thinking of getting resubscribed to JAEC because of this really useful and unique extension/module you have develop (JA K2 filter and search). This is the only module i have found that offers such advanced search options…
I am building a really content intensive web portal with many categories and many extra field groups/extra field assigned to each K2 category in order to describe the content and make navigation/content categorization more effective. So i would like to know if your JA K2 filter allows administrator to set multiple categories upon which the drop downs are generated. More specific lets say i have the following categories and extra field groups:
A.Category1
a1 (extra field group efg.a1) -> SEARCHABLE
a1.1
a1.2
a2 (extra field group efg.a2) -> SEARCHABLE
a2.1
a2.2
a3 (extra field group efg.a3) -> SEARCHABLE
B. Category2 (extra field group b) -> SEARCHABLE
b1
b2
C. Category3 -> NOT SEARCHABLE
c1 (extra field group c1)
c1.1
c1.2
c2 (extra field group c2)
c3 (extra field group c3)
D. Category4 -> NOT SEARCHABLE
I need to have ONE unique search module with all possible search options available. So as i saw from screenshots there is an option to “Restrict to specific category?”. What does this mean?
a. I can only search within a category subtree only? This is not enough for me because i need from e.g. Home page to have the option to find items in Category1 & Category2 but NOT IN Category3 and Category4
b. ELSE i have visible all my category tree as a hierarchical list and then depending on which category i select the corresponding “extra field group” generated drop down list is loaded?
If such a functionality is available can i choose which categories to be visible in the tree? I do not want all the categories to be visible….
If not available such functionality i think that implementing it, would be really really useful!
I hope i was clear enough. Looking forward to your answer. I hope JA K2 filter meets my requirements in order to use it…
