July 30, 2009 at 10:45 am #312681Hi there GeoVi,
I’m glad you are happy with it and your sister as well. It’s great to learn how to do these things, and like you said, Joomlart sure helps.
A couple comments.
The line: Site by Progressive Global Concepts you should change the color to something darker as it is hard to read the name over the pink.
The colors: Pink and green go well with the florist theme, but maybe not so many different pinks?!
It would be nice to have the menu on one line in stead of two, I think. If you used lower case or at least not only upper case you could fit more. . You could also have slighly less left and right margins to fit a bit more in. Also you could change some of the menus
About Celestial Florist – about us
Celstial News – News
Floral Photo Album – Photo AlbumMaybe Site Map could be in the footer menu.
Just some ideas I hope will help

Thanks for replying and my apologies for the delay in responding.
I agree about the PGC at the bottom but it’s okay I just as well remove it but my sister wants it there. The menu, she likes the look of it on two lines so it will stay. I had the site map in the footer but I’m pleasing her more than anyone else, including myself. Again, thanks for the input, I’d considered each before but she gets the final word. 🙂 The only thing left to do is remove that hideous vertical line on the right and it seems no one at JA knows how to do that!Kindest regards,

August 3, 2009 at 9:23 am #312975Hello Geovi,
The site looks good. But here are a few suggestions that I would like to add –
1. There is a grey bar only on the right hand side, which is looking out of place. Either it shouldnt be there, or it should be there on the left as well.
2. When I hover on any menu on the left, the background becomes white. I would love to see an pointer image for it.
3. The gradation of the left & the mainbody block dont match at the footer. This particularly looks very wierd.
4. The “View Cart” button at the top hand right corner doesnt look to be part of the site, bcz of the green block that is around it.These are just a few hints from the top of my head. Will put in more later 🙂
Between, the site looks good!
Regards,

August 3, 2009 at 8:28 pm #313034Mihir,
Thank you for your suggestions to improve the site and for the praise given, nonetheless!
1. That grey bar has been an issue and posted here for a resolution. The solution came today and has been corrected. I had a separate thread on it.
2. I agree, I will get around to it!
3. That has been corrected.
4. I wondered about the green around view cart and probably would change it. Although I don’t think it looks badly since that colour green is part of the template. I’ll see what my sister says.Again, thanks for your input! It’s greatly appreciated!
Warm regards,

Thanks, Sunrise. I’ll pass your best wishes on to her. I know she’ll be gracious and happy in receiving them. She got her first order delivered a week ago then had to go to a conference for the remainder of the week. She’s excited to get many more sales! 🙂

Thanks Daylin for viewing and reviewing the site. I thought it had a Christmas-look to it but the business owner, my sister, likes it. The products are surrounded by white. The only thing likely to change is the menu colours.
Again, your critique and suggestion are appreciated! 🙂

You didn’t offend at all. Afterall, I requested feedback/suggestions in the original post. I must be open to receive not what I consider criticism but individual taste and preferences in addition to developer skills. I am still working on the site but not daily as I was. I was rushed to get it up for her. I wish to tone it down some and think the menu change will do it.
Thank you for being considerate of my feelings. That is very thoughtful of you.

Sunrise, your suggestions stuck with me. I’ve read other posts from you in the forums and value your opinion. I made some changes, toned down the use of the “pinks” and went to one main menu instead of two lines. I will combine her wedding business with this site and it’ll still work. I switched to transmenu.
Thanks again for your input. My sister didn’t think the site could look better. I’m curious to know what you think about the colours used in the menu, please?
GeoVi 🙂

Taking your “encouragement” I toned down the Christmasy colours. I eliminated the pink borders on left and right sides, changed it to white and toned down the menu. My sister still likes the site so your suggestions were improvements in both our opinions.
Thank you!:)

Well, I happy that you value my opinion. Sometimes I feel like I don’t know much at all, but I try my best and learn as I go. Regarding your site, it looks like you make a lot of improvements. It looks better with the one line menu, I think.Since you asked about the menu, I know I said before to use less pinks and reds, but now I might say to use a bit more. Contradictions, I know.
I think I would use something like #F0C2C8 or #ECB4BA for the menu and #DA727E for hover, or the other way around if you prefer. Then when you have the lightest colors on the menu, you could use the same red as the top, #DA727E or darker for the text. and use the lighter colors #F0C2C8 for the text during hover. If you (or your sister) like this idea you could do something similar to the other menu also.
The gradient at the bottom is fine, but it does not use the same red as the top. Would that look better?
Up to you though, just thought to suggest something since you asked.
If I need flowers, I’ll go here to look, that is if you send to Thailand?!:D:D

Sunrise, my apologies for not replying sooner. One of my ‘other’ sites, not Joomla, had some issues and an IT guy was gracious to help me out. I’ve been rather occupied. The post before this one, suggesting colours, I’ll try them and I’m sure they’ll be just GREAT! Thank YOU!!
And even if pink isn’t your colour, I believe it’ll work and yes, the sister will like them. I gave her your best wishes and she laughed. It made her feel very good. I’ll work on the site this weekend.
Hope you’re having a great weekend! Be well and take special care!:)
If she has to get flowers to you in Thailand, I’m sure she will! :D:D
