    Hi laz18345,

Please go to “Template Manager” in back-end. Click “Options” button on tool bar. In “Templates” tab, select “Enabled” “Preview Module Positions” setting.

    Hope this help.

    Best regards.

I know some time has passed, but I see a blank page when I go to try and view module positions and options is on.

Is there nowhere with a simple graphic of the positions for this template?!

There’s nothing wrong, I just want to have the masonry layout be “detail” view as default and not “grid” view.

You can go to admin of your site and set the config with both parameters: Popup preview and Default layout as my screenshot

Once done, clear cache from admin area.

Let me know if it helps
