I used the Ja lime with quickstart and i had problem with encoding… when using some greek names to make my site in greek
i looked in the mysql database and some components are:utf8_general_ci and other latin1_swedish_ci
the latin_swedish_ci encoding of my database caused me problem when trying to change the mainmenu into greek.
“Home” changed and it showed up as ??????i will now use the fresh install from joomla and then just the template and manually add some plugins.
I say this in order to be fixed for other members of joomlart not having problem with quickstart.Saguaros ModeratorSaguaros

With your case, think that you should change the charset for all tables having the problem via the tools of phpmyadmin.

May 25, 2010 at 1:50 am #344589As the pics you put at topic #1
You choose click the Structure button () in a row and the “Action” column, to view structure of table. In the Structure Table Page, you ‘ll see the Operations button , after clicked you ‘ll a form and you find the “Collation” field, you change charset in there
Good luck

July 26, 2010 at 2:19 pm #350740I have the same problem with encoding (it does not perform polish letters – Ä…,Ä™,Å›,ć – etc.). I’ve changed everything by my on hands at phpmyadmin to utf8_general_ci, but it doesn’t help.
When I install joomla 1.5.20 and afterwards install the ja lime template, thing works out, but I would like to have quickstart without this problem 🙂 -
