June 25, 2008 at 9:30 pm #130150Hello all, me again…
All of the sudden, the frontpage modules (JA News & JA Frontpage) are not including the intro text, even though the modules clearly specify 300 characters per story. I have attached three screen shots to better illustrate the problem.
Where can I fix the problem?
Thanks

June 25, 2008 at 10:01 pm #256240When you add the Read More, try to add that further down the article to see if it shows anything then.
Or just drop the read more just to test.1 user says Thank You to Menalto for this useful post

June 25, 2008 at 10:14 pm #256249Menalto-
If a drop the “Read More”, the intro shows up in both modules. If I add “Read More” further down the articles, the intro text dissapears. Any idea?

June 25, 2008 at 11:14 pm #256255So Menalto- I reconfigured the Global Parameters, and everything seems OK.
I do not understand what causes the communication error between the template and J1.5. I’m not a developer and my knowledge of scripting in closer to none, but I have analized the JA Teline II template and modules scripts and have some idea of what they are supposed to do. That’s why I wonder where the problem resides.
Sorry, but I am so frustrated to fix one thing to just find out that another is broken or corrupt.
I will really appreciate if you take a long look to my website (http://revista.libroalibro.org) and try to figure out what is causing the strange behavior in all my pages; including but not limited to: bold typefaces, different headlines colors, spaces between stories, among others.
June 26, 2008 at 8:52 pm #256490I’m having this issue also, I’ve come to the conclusion that this template isn’t compatible with the red read more line as the modules set a number of characters for into text. However.. I’m having another issue also.. in which I don’t get the read more… unless I use the red line. I’ve modified some php files to get it to show the read more.. but, the link doesn’t work (unless I USE the red line..) This is a complete mess. I’ve also had MAJOR issues when using SEF and using ja_news when I use group by category mode.
Thanks, Billy

Hi Ana,
I looked at your website. It looks like you have solved it partially, at least as far as the Home Page. There is still an issue with its layout in the full article (image has no spacing wrt the text).
Would you be so kind to write the problems you encountered, show images for each (including what conditions the text appears or disappears), and how you solved this.
There were so many posts on this, with many unresolved. So, sharing your experience via a tutorial will help a lot of JA Teline II users.
When you feel this is resolved fully, for better archival, I am creating a summary of solved postings so that it is easy for customers to locate them.. It beats scrolling scrolling through the Forum sections everytime we want to find if our question has been answered before. Sometimes the search option does not get all of them.
Can you please add the link to this post in the appropriate thread (From what I remember about your preference, it would be Joomla 1.5x):

http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/links-to-solved-problems-known-bugs-of-joomla-1-0x-ja-teline-ii/Since some threads could be very long, can you please provide the following:
1. Original post heading:
2. Link
3. Your name (username)
4. Summary:
a. Brief description of the problem or question and desired goal
b. Proposed solution to the problem that worked
c. Please provide an image capture of the before and after, if possible.Without any Manual, How To’s or FAQ, the database of these solved problems may go a long way to help each other.
Thanks,
Cornelio

June 27, 2008 at 1:12 am #256517Your site is very nice Ana,
Is this your field? I am interested actually with a sampling of “World Literature”. It would be good to include contemporary Spanish literature, with English translations. I have seen a few English translations of some Spanish literature, but they were from personal websites. More than likely with no copyright permission, even if they are not yet under public domains..
Where are you from exactly?
Cornelio
