Hello

I’m facing Problems with the JA News Featured module latest Version and K2 2.7.1. From time to time I get the following error message.

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND i.trash = 0 AND c.published = 1 AND c.access <= AND c.trash = 0 AND ( i.pu' at line 3 SQL=SELECT count(i.id) FROM #__k2_items as i LEFT JOIN #__k2_categories c ON c.id = i.catid WHERE i.published = 1 AND i.access <= AND i.trash = 0 AND c.published = 1 AND c.access <= AND c.trash = 0 AND ( i.publish_up = '0000-00-00 00:00:00' OR i.publish_up <= '2016-08-09 18:46:59' ) AND ( i.publish_down = '0000-00-00 00:00:00' OR i.publish_down >= '2016-08-09 18:46:59' ) AND i.catid IN (11,22)

I found out that only the front page is affected. This is the only place there I have the module published. Disabling the module removes the Problem.

First of all I found out that the K2 Tools was also enabled by Default after install und unfortunately assigned to the same Position. I then removed the K2 Tools module. But the Problem still occurs.
Since it is a productive page I can’t leave it with the error. Have you heard about similar Problems? At the Moment it seems to work, but I’m sure the Problem is not solved. Could you please have a look at K2 in the newest Version and Ja News Featured?

Hi Roger,

I have downloaded JA News Featured Module for J25 & J34 here and K2 version 2.7.1 and installed it at my end. But I could not duplicate this bug.

Please give me the URL of your site and admin login backend of your site via private reply. I will check further.

I checked News module (JA News Featured) with some browsers: Safari, Chrome, Firefox but I could not see the bug of your mentioned above. You can re-check again let me know the step to see this bug. We will help you out.

I enabled News module (JA News Featured) see the video here and I could not see the problem on your site.

Too Bad I thought this time it might work. Will try some more. Changed all the settings in the module, without luck and also reinstalled the module, same problem. Will try to do a recording of when it happens.

I had also posted this problem in the K2 Forum. Now a user of K2 and also the JA News Featured module seems to have found the problem. I made the change to the mentioned file and it seems that the problem has gone.

The problem is in the following file: mod_janews_featured/helpers/adapter/k2.php

The problem is in the function "function getTotal(&$helper, $params)"

This line was wrong $aid = $user->get(‘aid’);
The correct one is $aid = $user->get(‘aid’) ? $user->get(‘aid’) : 1;

Can you please have a look? It would be great if you could release a new, corrected version of JA News Featured.

Thank you relsig! It was a pain apologizing to the editors but you solved it! 🙂
Half year gone but we still have no module vesion upgrade :/ so login at frontend and try to get to the HOME page and will face this issue.

Only the HOME page is affected by default or where this module is been used.
