January 4, 2010 at 9:27 am #328125Hello regme111!
I have a question – how can I put different sections in the ja news 2 modul. I`ll give you an example because its hard to explain. So lets see the demo template http://template15.joomlart.com/ja_teline_iii/
<blockquote>I want to put for example sections “World”, “Technology” and “Sport” at the place of “Europe”, “US Politics” and “Middle east” and rename the text in the modul from “World” to “News”. Then to post another News2 Module called “News 2” at the place of “Technology” (in the demo template) and put “Travel”, “Entertainment” and “Health” sections in the place of “Personal Tech”, “Business Tech” and “Space”.</blockquote>
All block are displaying base on the list of section id which you put into the “Section Ids” in the setting of the ja new 2 module. The name of each block is the section’s name, so that you only access the section manger and change the name for them.
<blockquote>In other words I want the JA News2 module to be like Teline II but with 3 columns (like Teline III) not with 2 columns like the original Teline II.</blockquote>
You change the number of colunm in the “Columns” paramter
<blockquote>And how to remove the edit menu on top of the “JA news2” module so no edit to be possible from the users?</blockquote>
=> Please turn off the JA Usersetting plugin

But I need sections instead of category. Please take a look at the image:
I guess it will be easier to explain what I mean.
Thanx 🙂cre8 Friendcre8

January 5, 2010 at 8:39 am #328231regme111 what you say can’t be done… Let me explain. You can’t have articles in a section if there is no categories in it. What this module does is display articles in a category which is in a section.
Sections doesn’t have articles, categories do. So at the Section Ids option of the Ja_News2 module you input which sections you want to be displayed and what the module does is display articles from the categories in the section id you provided. If you want there is an option to hide the categories name so that the user sees only the section. You can do that from Show Category (section) Title option.

January 5, 2010 at 6:45 pm #328316On the module ja-news2 how do you set the section title links to a different number of columns than the default 2?

On JA NEWS II I have a option “Columns”, not in JA NEWS II`m asking about JA NEWS I (first version, like in Teline II template) coz there is an option to choose catogery or section. But there is no option about the columns. I`m wondering is it so hard to make it like JA News I (first version)? Or at leas add an option to the JA NEWS II (second version) to shows article like Teline II
Its complicated but it will be extremely usefull.
Thanx

January 9, 2010 at 11:33 am #328799hi all,
I would have a section with 6 categories, instead of 3: three in a row and the other in a second row.
Or a section two times: the first time with the first three categories, the second time with a set of its categories, like: Section ID 1 (Categories ID 114, 116, 119), like 1:orange:114,116,119…
Is it possible to do something like this?
Thankssalvo

For some reason i’m not able to control the number of links individually for those though. I thought it would have been controlled by $linkitems or $s_linkitems but neither seem to do the trick for me. Any thoughts? As for now I really would just like to be able to control which section displays first so I can have this “headlines” section at the top of the JaNews2 module. Any ideas how to do this?
Thanks!</blockquote>How did you do that?
The Installation manual talks about category ID’s, but only section ID’s are working. Tried also the suggestion with brackets [13]:[red]:[89]. Nothing worked.

January 14, 2010 at 3:35 pm #329302I am using this module and can’t find where you can change the number of columns when you click on the lnk at the top of each section.
It is not in the module parameters.
I don’t mean the number of columns on the home page, but the link at the top of each section.

January 14, 2010 at 3:45 pm #329304please, help with a little problem with JA News 2 and images…
If I put an imagine with a caption and “left” align it seems to be ok (and the code has also <align=left”>), the text flow around the image.
But if I edit the image the code became (it should be right so) <style=”float: left ;”> and the text go below the image, as it there is a “clear: both” (that isn’t)…
How to have (correctly) “float: left” with a caption and the text floating around the image? Please, help 🙂

February 2, 2010 at 12:00 am #331253I am wondering if JoomlArt is still working on JA News 2. It’s a shame this module doesn’t support categories like Teline II. I have only 9 categories and they are not handled well by this module. Please provide a solution.
February 4, 2010 at 11:06 am #331547My site http://www.bluefc.net has JA Teline III installed albeit heavily customized.
Randomly during my work on the site the JA News II module started duplicating itself and being, well, random. It suddenly had the module name down the bottom, was repeating alternate sections in different places and things like that.
Could someone have a look at the site (http://www.bluefc.net/en) and see what’s wrong? Thank you.
P.S I hadn’t touched any of the CSS, HTML, PHP or settings of the module. It just suddenly changed on one refresh.
