Folks, I am tuning my JA Uvite template, however I having these issues with the JA news modules and wondered if there’s any way to get around this. This mostly pertains to the smaller modules on the front page:
– JA News uses the first image from the article it’s linked to. This means that I am forced to use (in the article) a smaller image than I want so that it looks correct in the module because the module won’t auto fit or resize the image from the article. Is there a way to have the image in the module not be the image from the article, but still link to the article?
– My articles will ultimately be pages for video. I don’t want an image on those article pages. However if place a video (using AllVideos) on my article and want use JA News to show the video category, the module doesn’t work properly. It wants an image, so this means I would be forced to place an image above my video in the article so that the JA news module will have an image to show
– It just seems a little backwards, but the JA News module is governing how I layout my articles. It seems my only option is not to use the module at all, but it’s a significant part of the JA Uvite template.
I hope this all makes sense. Please respond with any ideas and if you need me to clarify anything.

January 25, 2009 at 12:03 am #288068I sense your angst, and it is good.
Please check out the joomlaworks “frontpage slideshow” which may be flexible enough for your needs.1 user says Thank You to mneese for this useful post
January 25, 2009 at 6:11 pm #288143Wow. This is exactly what I was looking for – something that gives me more control over the image in the slideshow and how it is linked. I have one question if you know though.
Is there any way I can have the frontpage slideshow in the JA News module in the JA Uvite template. My concern is that I still want to maintain the rounded look of the corners of the modules for JA Uvite.

January 26, 2009 at 5:00 pm #288328i have not done that, but i would think this is simply a matter of module substitution, since the corners, etc are css responsive. those elements should stay. or, maybe you would have to rewrite the css to work with the frontpage element after substitution. i’m sure it is able to be done.
