Hi – I think the JA news component is great, but I’m having trouble working out how to get the links it generates switched so that they link through to the correct News Category.

At the moment the links work but they all display the stories under section BLOG.

JANEWS URL (works but takes you into BLOG view):
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=88&Itemid=2

NEWS ITEM URL (actual URL I would like JA News to use):
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=88&Itemid=68

The only obvious difference in the Itemid at the end of the string. Could you point me in the right direction to sort this out?

Thanks,

Woody

I’ve been looking into this, and JA News seems to be getting the wrong Itemid.

I wonder if mod_janews can be modifed to correct this, or is there an easy fix through the admin settings?

The Ja News links do not link direct through to the news story in its category as the Itemid is wrong. Instead it links through to the story in ‘Blog’ view.

This also happens on the Live Demo in JoomArt.

Can someone from JoomlArt reply and advise please.

Thanks.

P.s. I’m running it in 1.0.13 – there is a function in Global Config for switching how the Itemid is handled by Joomla, and I’ve tried adjusting this setting with no change in this Itemid problem.

There’re some option in JA News module allowing you to choose which type of link to the article. Please try to use this module parameter if it is suit to your need.

Thanks for the reply Khanh,

I have in admin “Group by Category or Section” set to “Category” which now makes the top category title link OK, but each individual news link does not display the correct Itemid (they all default to “Itemid=2”).

You can see this Itemid issue on your live demo for JA_Teline – just try clicking the links to news items – try this link from your demo site to see:

http://template.joomlart.com/ja_teline/content/view/17/2/

The story appears in “Blog” view, NOT in category.

Can you tell me how to fix this, as with a News module, this is pretty important!

Thanks

Do you enable the option “Get title link from menu” ?

Yes, I have enabled the option “Get title link from menu”, and it still does not link.

Can you tell me if you have a test installation of this module (using Joomla 1.0.13) where the links work?

Can you go into Admin on your live demo for Teline and get the links working?

If you can make it work, PLEASE let me know how you do it!

I can get the category title to link to its category, but cannot get any of the story titles to link within their category (all go to Blog view).

I noticed in mod_janews.php, line 96:
$bs = $mainframe->getBlogSectionCount();
$bc = $mainframe->getBlogCategoryCount();
$gbs = $mainframe->getGlobalBlogSectionCount();

$Itemid = $mainframe->getItemid( $firstnew->id, 0, 0, $bs, $bc, $gbs );
if ($Itemid == NULL) {
$Itemid = ”;
} else {
$Itemid = ‘&Itemid=’. $Itemid;
}
Is this why? How can it be set to link into category NOT Blog view?

I hope you can help.

Thanks
