I am using this module to display past news stories for the week. Some days we have more stories than I want to put into JA News Featured Module.

For three days now I have been processing yesterday’s featured news into this module (with no problems). All categories are identical (Other Stories, Monday, Tuesday, etc.). Also, all subcategories are identical.

However, today when I tried (for the first time) to populate “Other Stories” the category name appears but with no stories.

    My checklist so far:
Check module to make sure “Other Stories” is selected along with “Monday” etc.
Check categories to make sure “Other Stories” and children are identical to “Monday” and children.
Check stories to make sure they are in “Other Stories” subcategories (i.e. state_news)
Moved other items out of position “JA News 1” (in case it was a position “space” problem)
Went to module, deselected Monday. It was removed from list as requested. (in case it was a position “space” problem)
Went to module, selected Monday. It reappeared as asked.
Changed the name of “Monday/State News” to “Monday/Test News.” Did not change in browser but remained “Monday/State News”
Thought possibly the sub name was being created from the alias. Changed to test_news. No change in the browser.
Changed everything back to State News
Went to module and changed Maximum subcategories from 4 to 10.
Repeated all above about 3 times…….
Have attached pics. I must be missing something somewhere.

    HELP!

    1. browserdisplay
    2. modsettings

    Hi sbbritt

I have noticed you have 1 main category In Case You Missed It and all the other categories are subcategories

could you make these changes ?

Main category = Other Stories with 3 subcategories 1-State News 2-Local News 3-National News

Main category = Wednesday with 3 subcategories 1-State News 2-Local News 3-National News

    Main category = Tuesday ………………………………………

the best setting for the ja_news_pro module is to show 3 subcategories in your actual setting you have more then 3

and if you notice it shows only 3 subcategories although you set it to 6 or more .

    Hi Pavit

Thanks again. Set the categories to the root level (Other stories, etc.) changed subcategories from 6 to 3. No change.

After I did this, I went and removed their “featured” status and it worked! Thanks so much. I also sent you a formal “Thank you.”
