    Hi Everyone,

I have been developing my site locally and recently uploaded it successfully to a web server. I then deleted some menu items and then recreated them. Ever since every time I click on a category item displayed on the front page using JA News the resulting page is completley messed up.

The content item displays correctly but JA News is positioned at the bottom along with all of the other modules on the front page. This is really confusing me…I’m sure I had this problem before and managed to solve it but for the life of me can’t remember. The site is supposed to be going live very soon so it is becoming more and more urgent.

    The live URL is: http://alpha.web2-netshine-hosting.co.uk/~britop/

    Can anybody offer any suggestions??

Please guys I know this has got to be a simple problem. I can supply admin details if necessary.

Much appreciated…and many thanks in advance.

JA News seems to be positioned correctly for me ( in FF 2.0.0.4 )

    Hi Erik,

Sorry maybe I did not exlain myself correctly.

When clicking any of the content items produced by JA News on the front page the resulting page displays incorrectly. Firstly all module positions of the front page are replicated and the breadcrumb trail does not display atall to tell the user where they are in the site.

Take for example the resort ‘victoria villas’

    follow the link

    http://alpha.web2-netshine-hosting.co.uk/~britop/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=39&Itemid=1

notice how there is a moudle above the content which should not be there, nor should all of the the ja news items appear at the bottom of he content.

Sorry I am trying to explain myself. If you would like to chat pleae click on the LIVE PERSON MODULE for online chat feature, we can talk it through.

many thanks in advance, I am panicking a bit because the site was supposed to be going live this weekend and it is still far from finished.

You are also having errors with the Google Map API. I noticed that on your Frontpage that there is only one column for the JA News Categories on the left but does not fill the page to the right. So there is a big gap where the 2nd column should be. I am using the IE7 browser. Looks okay in FF2.0.

    Hi Bigrk,

I have noticed a similar problem myself using both IE7 and IE6, I am not sure why this is happening….any ideas? At the moment that is the least of my worries, I can just set JA News to display the istems in one column whcih worked in both browsers correctly.

I am still having problems with JA News adding itemid=1 and the end of each URL it creates. I have prevented the JA News module from displaying on each page but in turn every module which appears on the front page now displays on any content item which has been accessed from JA News on the front page. Also, there is no breadcrumb trail from these content items.

I suppose in theory i could apply this hack to each module I don’t want to display, but this seems to be a very long winded method.

I am sure there has got to be another solution to this problem – I have had JA News working correctly as it is supposed to, any body with any other ideas?

Many thans for reading the posts guys…lets see if we can work this out once and for all!!!!

Get rid of the Google Map Module or whatever it is and then see how everything works. When you first come to your Home Page there is an error displayed that says the Google Map API was registered for another web site and you need a new key. So, if everything works okay after removing all of it then register for Google Maps for this new website and try again. Most evrything seems to work just fine on the pages that do not include the Google Map stuff. That includes the breadcrumb trail.

    HI Bigrk,

I have got rid of the Google Map Module but stil I have a problem with the JA News content items. They just simply all have itemid = 1 appended to the URL when they should in fact follow the the same URL as if I woul access the content items directly through the menu structure.

For the time being and as a workaround I have set all modules to display on all pages. Then I applied the JA News hack:

    <?php if (( mosCountModules(‘ja-news’))&& ($option == ‘com_frontpage’ )) { ?>
for all modules which I did not want to appear other than the front page.

This I feel is a complete workaround and not a solution to my problem, I am concerned that when I apply SEF to the site that it is going to cause a LOT of headaches!!

I really do not know where to go from here????

Thanks for look at my post mate I really appreciate it!!

Just curious…How are you creating your content for JA News? Just looking for your process.
