My problem (and it happens both with NEX and Teline) is mod_janewspro: it won’t display the latest articles in each category. For instance, I published an article in our “crime” section today (May 24), but the latest article listed on the front page in the crime section is dated May 12.

I’ve turned off the cache in the module, I’ve turned off the system cache, and cleared my browser’s cache — no difference. These simple problems are tarnishing a beautiful news template, as well as Joomla overall.

I fixed the problem by answering “no” to “group by sub category.” Answering yes, somehow limits article checks to just the main category — in my case “crime.” None of the subcategories were being checked to see whether new articles existed.
