Hi guys,
I just installed Joomla 1.5.6 and the JA Newsflash module. My site is http://www.dimension247.com
I am trying to display newsflash articles on the Home page but am having problems. When I have an image in the article, the first time around the newsflash is looped the image displays properly every other time it does not display.
Here is what I found:
The first time around, when the image displays properly, the location for the image is:
http://dimension247.com/images/stories/analytics.png
Once it loops and displays again, the location of the image changes to:
http://images/stories/analytics.png
This is the reason for not displaying. Now, the question is, why is the location (URL) changing? Is it a module bug?
Thanks,
J

August 23, 2008 at 1:27 am #266817Not actualy.
What editor are you using?
Check for “relative URL” setting and turn that off.
I’m using JCE and had same troubles in the past.August 23, 2008 at 1:55 am #266822Thank you.
What is JCE, where do I find it? How to turn the relative URL off?
Sorry if I sound stupid.

No problem.JCE stands for Joomla Content Editor, the interface where you, the editor of articles, type stuff.
Now, I assume you don’t have JCE installed so my guess is that your editor is TinyMCE.
Go to your admin backend and edit your user, select the TinyMCE as your editor.Done that? Ok.
Now go to Extensions -> Plugin Manager and Click on Editor – TinyMCE 2.0
On the right side you have the options.Change URLs fron Relative to Absolute.Done that? Ok.
Go edit your articles again by simply opening and saving.
Look if your problem is still there.I hope I made myself clear enough.
Still, there is no guarantee that the Newsflash module has no bugs.I’m no developer so I advise you with what I can.Good Luck.
August 23, 2008 at 2:11 am #266826OK, I found the editor – Editor – TinyMCE 2.0
I turned the relative URL off, cleaned cach from both Joomla and my browser and still the same. The first time the image is showing and after that it is not. Second time it appears with a relative URL.

August 23, 2008 at 4:18 am #266839OK, I uninstalled Joomla 1.5.6 and installed 1.5.5. Now the JA Newsflash module is working fine. Could be a problem with the newest Joomla.
Thanks for your help.

August 23, 2008 at 4:23 am #266840You are welcome.
It might be possible but I also suspect the module, and its ajax type of loading content.Anyway, I’m glad you found a way to fix it.
Watch out with J1.5.5 since it has some security issues.
Remember to BACKUP frequently.Good luck!

August 24, 2008 at 2:07 pm #266996If you have been experiencing problems with the “JAnewsflash” losing your images in Joomla 1.5.6. the only fix I have found that works is the following:
1) In configuration select “NO Editor”.
2) Go to Newsflash item and edit the image URL: Eample; “http://www.somewebsite.com/images/stories/demo/image1.jpg”
3) Check “Preview” to see if you got the link right.
4) Save item.
This works for me and could possibly be the easiest solution.
You can go to this “Under Construction” site and see that it works:
http://www.stuartboatworks.com/index.phpHowever— NOTICE TO JOOMLART — you NEED to fix this MODULE.
Thanks,
Gary
August 25, 2008 at 8:23 am #267124Hi you all!
Having the same problems here – no matter what.
Either I have a double url, or no url at all.I’ve been beginning to wonder if there’s some kind of memory usage problem here.
Sometimes everything’s right, usually not.Somehow maybe related to hosting.
I had everything working just fine, when I used merely the ip address, eg.
http://62.73.36.124/ja_iolite_k1/ but when I switch to http://www.koo1.fi/
all becomes very random.Teemu
