After fixing all the stuff with JAnewsflash, I can only get (3) newsflash items to rotate even though I have up to 8.
Can the programmer please jump in here and explain why we are having so much trouble with this Module?

go to your modules and look for the ja-newsflash module, you can set the number of items in the module parameters

This is version 1.0 of the module.
Can’t seem to see any mention of number of articles in Parameters?
Thanks,
Gary

August 24, 2008 at 8:59 pm #267030i’m using 1.0.15
your using 1.5.6?
I stand corrected, your version does not have the parameter for number of articles
so lets look at the obvious
did you install from the quickstart
are the other articles assigned to new/newsflash
are they all published.
have you disabled the module, and then cleared all of your caches within joomla and you browsers and then re enabled your module.
have you tried creating a new section and category, copying the articles to that new sec/cat and then setting the parameter to that new sec/cat, and then, disable the module, and then clear all of your caches within joomla and you browsers and then re enable your module ( this is the one that usually works for me)August 24, 2008 at 10:21 pm #267035@mj1256 75564 wrote:
i’m using 1.0.15

Then cleared the cache. I think the “Random” seeding could use some work as it displays duplicates too often.
I’m at a loss to explain it’s sudden complete functionality but there you have it.
I’m using the Joomla Quickstart 1.5.5.
Looks OK so far.

Gary

August 25, 2008 at 2:16 am #267054yeah. I go through this all the time,
you did the right things, uninstall, reinstall, clear cache
upi can try this approach with almost anything that does not work right the first time.

August 29, 2008 at 4:23 pm #267870i’m having the exact same problem, only the suggestions in this thread didn’t solve the problem for me.
i’ve added a 4th article for the newsflash module. it doesn’t show up. i’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, and then cleared the firefox cache (when i go to “clean cache” in joomla there is nothing to clean).
now what? any further suggestions?
EDIT: okay, i’ve even go so far as to re-assign all 4 articles to a whole new section and category, uninstall the module, reinstall the module, assign the new category in the module preferences, clear the cache, and it still won’t load the 4th article!!! this is so frustrating.
