August 12, 2008 at 3:48 am #132167I have just been battling with the same/similar problem:-
– if I add an image to a new janewslight article, it will not display even if it is smaller than the example images; this is true whether in a new section or in the existing Demo Section/Special Features category. The text is displaying, just not the image.
– strangely, the image displays OK in the tinyMCE editor in wysiwyg mode, but not when you preview or run the web site.
– reducing the image size to even smaller again HAS WORKED. Don’t ask me why. The parameters in mod_janewslight allow you to specify the image height and width but this does not seem to have any bearing, even when they are larger than the image. But an image that is only 50x50px is displaying OK.:pTwo other problems in janewslight are:
– embedded links in the content don’t work (they don’t show up on the web page as links , just plain text).
– paragraph formatting doesn’t work. All the text is displayed in one long string without paragraph breaks, even when you extend the maximum characters to allow for all the text.I wonder, is there an alternative module we can use for displaying news articles in this area of the page:confused: I think I’d like to abandon janewslight and use a working alternative, if anyone can tell me how?

August 21, 2008 at 9:16 am #266441Thanks, you are very kind to offer to help! I’m afraid I have abandoned the janewslight items because of all the formatting limitations, as well as the apparent bug with inserting images.
I have created regular articles so the web site owner can edit them from the fontend, and I used the newsflash module in the mas_bot position. As a newbie this was the best I could work out (and I still struggle to comprehend how it all hangs together! :(()
Perhaps if you want to see my site (which is still under development), you might want to make a comment or suggestion. http://www.ecoastmusic.com.au/Joom/ You will need username: demo and password music Joomla version is 1.5.6

August 21, 2008 at 9:37 am #266443That’s not bad at all for a start.
I also had troubles in the beginning but I found solution as I moved on.Have a look at my site, wich is JA Barite based and if you like something that you may think you can implement in your site, drop me a line and I’ll give you a hand.
My site is in the signature or you can click here.

August 25, 2008 at 6:25 pm #267175Bought JA Barite last week. Both the JA Slider and the JA Newsflash don’t seem to work right. In the JA Slider items are sometimes not being added. In the JA Newsflash I cannot get the component to animate

August 25, 2008 at 10:39 pm #267221Here are some suggestions from another beginner, hope they help:)
With JA Slider, is the missing item (article) in the right category? (JA Slider/Contentscroll will display all the articles or intro’s for a given category). Go to Extensions>Module Manager, then select type=mod_ja_contentscroll. Click on the module name Ja Contentscroll, then under Parameters, what is the category number? Does your missing article belong in this category?
For JA Newsflash, first check your settings. Go to Extensions>Module Manager, then select type=mod_janewsflash. Then click on JA Newsflash. Under parameters, is ‘Rolling delay time’=10, ‘Animation time’=1000? What category have you selected (eg News/Newsflash)? And do you have more than one article in that category? (It will only rotate the messages if you have more than one in that category).
August 25, 2008 at 11:35 pm #267227Width of Div and Number of Elements
These are the two parameters I had to mess with. It would take too long to explain so I’ll move on.As far as JA Newsflash i have the parameters as you said, and 6 articles in there (when I manually refresh page it works).
Thanks for your help!
