why making things so difficult? Obviously the template only has to work with the “current” K2 version. So if a K2 component is included in the quickstart file, the template and its extensions must work only with the included K2 component version. But, please, 100%
    <!— SNIP –>

The real reason for this kind of problem: Lack of quality control. The templates are launched first and then we, the “club members”, find out and tell Joomlart what works and what does not.</blockquote>

first part… the recent k2 rapid version change is a good example of this.. yes, you build the template for the THEN stable k2 version. Notice STABLE… of course later k2 upgrades and folks are mad it doesn’t work again. I believe 2.5.1 was the CURRENT version when NEX was released. But that was during the time when K2 went from 2.5 to 2.5.4 in less then 30 days… Impossible for a 3rd party to keep up with that AND have good QA.

2nd part.. QA has NOTHING to do with design which is what your complaining about. You have the preconcieved notion that EVERY extension must work 100% with every nuance of K2. Lets keep in mind this is a JOOMLA template, not a K2 template.
Now if we sold the extension as K2 compatible then you’d be 100% on the money and have my full support.

    Hi n6rej,

OK, may be that I am really expecting too much of my “club membership”. So let us try to find a reasonable solution.

Please tell me what kind of K2 user may use the JoomlArt templates declared as “usable” with K2. I still do not see what sense it makes installing a template which comes with some extensions without K2 support. I place a costum HTML module instead of the sidenews module? And use mixt content? Some Joomla articles and categories here, some K2 items and categories there? Should the answer not be: After Joomla 1.5 the JoomlArt templates are not fully compatible with K2? (SO DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!).

Allow me to try to break this down to you as logically and in as simple terms as possible . . . .

    1. JoomlArt designs templates based on the JOOMLA CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    2. K2 is a JOOMLA COMPATIBLE 3RD PARTY COMPONENT (and a FREE one, at that) developed and provided via JOOMLAWORKS

    3. The K2 CCK component is NOT a proprietary product of JoomlArt and, as such, JoomlArt is not involved in the development, coding, updating, modification or technical support for the K2 CCK component

    4. It is NOT JoomlArt’s responsibility – nor ANY OTHER JOOMLA TEMPLATE CLUB – to guarantee 100% infallible and/or error free functionality of the K2 CCK component with each and every aspect of our JATC Templates.

Again, while we can certainly try to work with you in seeing if we can assist you in diagnosing the issue relating to function difficulties between JoomlaWorks’ K2 CCK component and our JATC Templates – ultimate responsibility for such is not that of JoomlArt or the JoomlArt Support Staff . . . but, rather, as with ANY 3rd Party Extension that a person chooses to integrate into his/her JATC (or any Joomla CMS based template), ultimately rests with the individual user. NO ONE is twisting your arm to use the K2 CCK component.

So, before you continue on with your finger-pointing blame-game and inaccurate assertions as to JoomlArt’s integrity and/or responsibility with regard to the JoomlArt’s templates for the Joomla CMS, please take a step back … take a deep breath … and let’s try to approach your issue(s) in a much more constructive, considerate and cooperative manner, m’kay?

To this effect, tlease start a NEW discussion thread focusing on the specific issue(s) you are experiencing – and let’s see if we can work togetherconstructively and cooperatively – to try to arrive at a solution . . . fair enough?

    😎
