I’ve nearly finished this site and would welcome any comments. I’ve seen how supportive everyone has been on these threads, hope you can spare some time for a few comments.

    Hi Nigel

Nice looking site, congratulations. Great blend of colours.

    My only comments for improvement:

Sort out a favicon! The default Joomla one is horrible.

There appears to be an overlap of the ‘search’ box into the menus:

Also, if you could somehow ‘tweak’ the 3 blocks of text under the slideshow so that they make four lines each it would help the overall layout.

Overall, a nicely constructed site, good looking and easy to navigate.

    Hey nice Job..

Chris will need to tell you which browser has the overlap of the search box as it look fine in IE8
my only tip for anyone that chooses to place full email address’ on display, you are leaving yourself wide open for spam attackers.

I do like the look of your site even if I would have (for better belance)had the three address’ at the bottom on a different page.

    Well Done 😉

oh and your winged lion would make a great favicon….try here for creator or here or here

Hi Nigel, you did a very good job on this one. Simple, clean, to the point and very professional looking. As Chris mentioned, though, you should change the favicon to something of your own. Could be as simple as a blue square with the border that you have the letters DKLN in, just without the letters?!

    Good luck.

Firefox 3.0.11 … although it Could be a Mac issue?

I also checked it in Safari 3.2.1 and it looks even worse:

I don’t know, in FF 3.5 on a PC it looks fine, but like you said, maybe it is a Mac issue.

But maybe it has something to do with the screen width? I don’t know. What is the resolution on the screen that has the problems.

I have had similar problems in the past and all it took was to adjust/reduce the margins or padding on the menu css file by a couple pixels. That should take care of the problem and still look fine I think.

    Dear All,

Many thanks for your comments, its great to get encouragement from you guys, especially as I have seen your names featured so many times on these forums.

I did the favicon yesterday, its fine on Firefox, but doesn’t show up on Explorer, not sure whats happening there. I look in to it.

I’m also not sure where to start on the browser issue as it looks ok on Firefox and explorer 6, 7 & 8 for PC, I’m afraid I don’t use Mac’s so I can’t easily check on Safari or Firefox for Mac’s.

    Any suggestions…

    Kind Regards

    Hi Nigel

A really useful site is http://http://www.browsershots.org/

This allows you to check your site in many versions of many browers running on a range of platforms.

    Nice Favicon!

Your Favicon is working fine in IE 😉

The compatability button is still showing up in IE8 which just means that you had not added the compat code into the head of your index.php file…..as your site seems to work ok in IE8 there is no urgent need to add the code, but hry, it can’t do any halm!!

    Hi there,
really great implemenation. How did you do the left text / picture side (at Frontpage), so that you get the separation line?
    Thanks, Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

Simply insert the following code in a Custom HTML module.

If you download Firefox and the Module Firebug, you’ll be able to see the code used. The separator lines are created by the <div> codes.

Obviously you need to change the photos and locations!

    <div class="ja-innerdiv clearfix"><a href="about-us/the-partners.html"><img src="images/stories/george75.jpg" alt="George Diamond" title="George Diamond" style="float: left;" height="75" width="75" />George Diamond</a><span></span> focuses on defined benefits schemes and assisting trustees.</div>

    <div class="ja-innerdiv clearfix"><a href="about-us/the-partners.html"><img src="images/stories/craig75.jpg" alt="Partner - Craig Lister" title="Craig Lister" style="float: left;" height="75" width="75" />Craig Lister</a><span></span> handles individual wealth management with high net worth clients.</div>
    <div class="ja-innerdiv clearfix"><a href="about-us/the-partners.html"><img src="images/stories/nicola75.jpg" alt="Nicola Gillespie Syme" title="Nicola Gillespie Syme" style="float: left;" height="75" width="75" /> <span class="title">Nicola Gillespie Syme</span></a> started her career at PwC and now heads up operations in <a href="about-us/edinburgh-office.html">Scotland</a>.</div>

    This should help
