April 11, 2009 at 8:42 am #300908oh very nice.
but.
1. ……linked on left side (i think it is main menu), why dont use RSgallery for your gallery. better for you.
2. http://www.snapshotbasket.com/gallery-latest-images with 4 images/ row to brokent your frame.
3. http://www.snapshotbasket.com/gallery-places/29-places-part-1 very very bad here.
4. Click for site music, replace by other module,
5. Image Description & Prices lost “S” : edit:
open template.css (line 988)
#ja-col1 {
float:left;
overflow:hidden;
padding-top:3px;
width:24.99%;
}
replace
width:24.99%;
to
width:25.99%;
template.css (line 672)
#ja-mainbody #ja-contentwrap {
float:right;
width:72%;
}
edit:
width:72%;
to:
width:71%;
April 11, 2009 at 1:16 pm #300937Hi thanks for the suggestions.
I made the template css changes u suggested.
The gallery change I will consider.
I think the current trouble is that when users use a wide screen the content does not re-adjust to fill in the space.
So I’m going to work on a fixed width wrapper I think. In the process of implementing now.
The music module is unfortunately a popup. If I use a normal music module then the music will refresh and reload everytime I change to another page, so unless I use frames, I don’t think this can be overcome.

April 24, 2009 at 11:01 am #302431Hi, Nice site you got there.
One comment I would like togive is that on a regular not wide screen, I don’t like to have to use the vertical scroller to see the whole page. A lot of people still use 1024×768 and with that resolution it does not look as good as it should. I don’t know if you would or could change that though. Good luck with the site.
April 24, 2009 at 3:04 pm #302445Hi thanks.
quang268 had commented earlier that there seemed to be a lot of empty space in the site. This is because of the widescreen he uses. Joomla can readjust to various resolutions but unfortunately my content (especially the galleries) don’t really organize well and it looks too open. Which is why I decided to go the fixed wrapper way and try to achieve a ‘tight’ organized look. I’ll be leaving it this way until i figure out a better way to allow Joomla to readjust to different resolutions.
Thanks for the comment!
April 27, 2009 at 3:56 pm #302684hey. just to say that that is a nice site and simple. just the way it should be.
April 28, 2009 at 2:47 am #302743Hi. Thanks for the comment! 🙂
July 26, 2009 at 3:29 pm #312273Hi. I’ve made a few updates to the site. Site now has background. Implementation of Hornav style menu system used for galleries. More detailed breakdown of product information + new products.
My site currently does not resize dynamically. This is mainly because the images in the galleries are placed inside tables and do not resize as and when the resolution changes, so I’ve been forced to keep the width as fixed in order to prevent too much empty space or overlapping of content when the browser resolution is smaller. Is it possible to input the image thumbnail size in terms of percentage? so that it enlarges and contracts to ‘fill’ the screen as and when screen resolution changes?

July 26, 2009 at 4:26 pm #312276Looks good. You definitely might want to consider shrinking it down to around 980px to 1000px for people who have 1024×768 screens. I don’t know about the thumbnail percentages but I don’t think that will matter. Just change the template width. You can do that in the template manager parameters. JA Purity has a parameter where you can change the width to auto, narrow, wide, specified percentage or specified pixels. Select specified percentage and set your percentage if you want it fluid or specified pixels and insert a pixel size under 1024 if you want it fixed. It should still display your images nicely and people with 1024 screens will appreciate it. 🙂

July 27, 2009 at 1:59 pm #312360Yes I also have a 1024 768 screen at the moment and it is very difficult to navigate when you constantly have to use the horizontal scrollbar to see the rest of the page.
Nice pictures though. Where are they from?

Hi! I do apologise about the resolution. I’ll try redoing it during the weekend and see if I can figure something out. But its been a bit of a problem actually, mainly because of the format of the galleries, which don’t resize with a change in resolution. This is because the gallery thumbnails are placed inside a 3 column table. Joomla tables are AWFUL! I have a lot of trouble getting it to do what I want.
If I allow the site to resize dynamically then I get the following problems:
Say it is viewed on a screen of 1000 pixels. The body of my page, i.e: the galleries, do NOT resize and hold the same width as before, and the right module invades into the body area, covering about 200 pixels worth of the last column of images.
Say it is viewed on a screen of 1400 pixels. The opposite happens. The galleries again do not resize and so between the body and the right column I get 200 pixels worth of white space which looks very sparse and ugly and give the impression of poor content management.
As a result I decided to fix the page width to 1200, which is ok for all except resolutions of 1024×768 I know. But I was hoping that with this age of LCD screens of ridiculous resolutions it won’t be so bad. Boy was I wrong, my page hits show at least 20% of views are on screens of 1024×768 which means that I was way off mark, so I’ll have to try and fix it then.
I’m researching ways in which to get my table to add or remove columns as and when the screen resolution changes. I will let you guys know if I come up with anything.
By the way, thanks for the compliment about the images. They are my own, taken mostly in Singapore, but also with a smattering of shots from neighboring Malaysia, Thailand and also Sri Lanka (which is where I am from). Contributions from other parts of the world are welcome though. Hehe!

July 28, 2009 at 4:54 am #312436Hello,
Nice work for your first site. But a few things that I would like to say.
1. The site width has to be 1000px – http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp
2. The background is basically to centered, it should extend the whole width, and its to weak. It should be more interesting.
3. Links to the gallery are called Page -1, Page 2 , i think its a bit odd.
4. the Terms and conditions page color, its very faint, its gotta be #333 if u want to match the red.
5. Gallery has a slim box but its too small. If you want someone to buy your images then the size should be bigger, if you dont want ppl to download them, put 4/5 copyrights on it. And make it image at 72 dpi (being a photographer this is an honest suggestion)
6. The spaces between images has to be a lot more. Also the descriptions tages have to be bolder.
7. You dont need the resolution to be shown, a person who comes on your website doesnt care.
8. The contact us form is in the category view, if you are the only person directly like to the contact.
9. The purchase box on the right says ::Purchase Module…really dont like it. Probably call it some like “Buy it Now!!”Hope this isnt too much 🙂
Regards,
Mihir Chhatre. -
