Your grey bar is actually appearing with the day and date. Are you saying that you would like to display the time and the document’s editor?

I also have the same problem at http://www.frugo.org

I’m running on Joomla 1.0.15
AlphaContent installed (maybe that’s messing with the css?)
MxComment (not shown)

I think this case is only w/ Joomla1.0.x versions. A mod or solution I can follow would be nice =].
I really don’t know what i’m dealing with, but i’d like the generic frontpage w/ the nice gray bar area and the print/pdf/email links =].
