July 13, 2009 at 6:50 pm #310931First, I agree it is a nice an clean template but… quite boring and not imaginative.
One thing which could have been done to make it a little be less boring would be to have different colors for each tab (first tab blue, second tab green, etc…) which means applying a different css by section in the main menu (customisable in the backend),
This would have been something new and interesting. But as it is, this template has absolutely nothing new…

Can – you – understand – it?
Please, thinks before reply… itΒ΄s easy π
Oh trust me, I think very clearly before I reply – but thank you for the concern.
π
There are very few, if ANY, Joomla templates I see throughout ANY Template Club that do not utilize the same basic structures, menus, news/blog features, and even slideshow effects. Sure, each Club has their own specialty extensions and widgets, but for the most part, all follow similar basic design structures and tenants.
Once again, templates are merely starting points for the user to take and modify/customize/personalize into something a bit more distinctive and unique. JA does not offer “turnkey websites.”
And as for differing opinions as to the designs – you’re absolutely right … what is appealing to one may not be appealing to another. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinions. Can’t please all the people all the time.

No reason you cannot accomplish this yourself to make a website you create from this template unique.

July 13, 2009 at 10:21 pm #310949What I like about JA templates is just how easy they are to make your own. While some of the others have loads of features they are hard to customize. Take for example some of the RT templates. The look of those are often very distinctive and take a higher skills base to customize. Some of the Yootheme ones are also a right pig to customize. If you want proof just take a look at some of the ones with fancy parralax scrolling slideshows.

July 13, 2009 at 11:07 pm #310955I know it is Tom line. But it is time to tell him to sh…up.
Come on ! OK he is a developer and he spends his days developing sites and modifying templates. I am glad for him. But if he could, just a minute, think at why people accept to pay for a membership, he may realize that his comments are just stupid.
So here are the facts:
– The reason why people pay membership is to get ready-to-use and feature-rich templates
– JA Raite is clean and simple (so ready-to-use) but feature poor !
– The idea to have different colors (and css) for each section of the main menu has been a recurrent request on these forums
– As there is absolutely NO new feature on this template, I just suggested it could have been one.
– Now if someone (anyone) has time and skills to do it: I would say like Tom: Just do it and be kind enough to share with the others. But once again, for me, the template is a minor point of a website project and it would be nice if developers could understand that.
Regards.

July 14, 2009 at 2:16 am #310968please go back on track and discuss about the template. if you have personal comments about each other, feel free to use the PM feature.
July 14, 2009 at 10:20 am #311043With that kind of templates, Joomlart makes a step back in webdesign evolution.
Those templates are used in 2001, where is the “art” form Joomlart where is the Innovation?
This template can i simply make by my self, i don’t need any “professional art team” for this …Like someone said before Magento and Joomla Templates, for the Joomla Members, in cost of that kind of templates? You must be kidding!

July 14, 2009 at 2:14 pm #311058Ok Guys.Please Keep to the topics….
Tom please allow the other members to express their opinions without feeling the need to defend JA every time someone does not have a positive comment.
Everyone is different so pleasing everyone is never going to happen…. by listening to peoples complaints as well as peoples praises is the only way JoomlArt and/or any company can truly improve…. if they take what people like and try to fix what others don’t, standards can only get better.
Remember everyone has a right to say how they feel. π

I think JA could take a leaf out of Yoothemes book though. Properly explained module positions with every template. Properly explained suffixes for every template. Proper tutorials for everything new feature they introduce. This all cuts support question down to a minimum.
They take full advantage of mootools and javascript. And this new Warp5 thing looks very promising. JoomlaJunkie have something similar being released soon too. β¬250/year for the dev licence is a good price too.
Joomlart are you listening??

I would agree. I think the problem would be that Joomlart has some definite problems using the English language. They would need someone fluent to write a good guide/tutorial.

As a native English ex-proofreader, I’m willing to help out if needed.:)
