Hi,

I’m using Sidenews to post K2 items in the sidenews module on the frontpage, as designed in template JA Tiris. I followed the JA Tiris Joomla 2.5 tutorial so in every item I use metadata “featured” to show them in the sidenews module. However, I’m facing 2 problems:

Module: JA Side News Module NL
1) The module does not recognize the correct K2 categories:

The categories shown there do not reflect the categories I have in my K2 settings. How can I fix this?

2) The module uses the 258px category image and stretches it back to 302px to fit the box on the homepage. It looks ugly and blurry now. I tried setting everything to 302px, in category and in K2 parameters. Item image size = XLarge, which I have set to 302px. However, it always uses the 258px image and resizes that one bigger to 302px……. strange. How can I fix this?

The sidenews module is on top of the slideshow module as designed in template JA Tiris.

I have checked and could see that from module, setting image size is 302 x 188 and front end displays: <img width=”302″ height=”188″ align=”left” title=”SMS-900 Sign & Label Systeem” alt=”SMS-900 Sign & Label Systeem” src=”http://www.rebo.nl/joomla/media/k2/items/cache/52ec984cc72302fd412e2aa145a6526c_Generic.jpg”>
So that, all is correct. You should update module setting correctly!

I don’t quite understand what you mean by “You should update module setting correctly!”? It is set to 302×188 as in the JA Tiris template, that’s how I want it. But the picture is ugly, because it scales up the 258px image to 302px.

Pls try to set the dimensions for image with its width =. 258px in k2 and module setting.

I don’t see why that should work? I want a 302×188 image to be shown as in the demo / quickstart. But it somehow goes wrong when using a k2 item?

As a workaround I could create Joomla articles to be shown in the sidenews module, but the problem is that you can’t link them to the k2 article..

The image http://www.rebo.nl/joomla/media/k2/items/cache/52ec984cc72302fd412e2aa145a6526c_Generic.jpg of K2 item is 200 x 125 while module display setting is 302×188. So the image will stretch. That is reason why you must setting k2 resize image to 302×188 for apply all item. Hope you understand us.

Kick.. 2 issues with K2 that are not solved yet.. can any of the developers test this and confirm it also doesn’t work at your end? I purchased the JA Tiris template, but these 2 things don’t work… I can’t go live!

I changed the width of Generic Image to 302 then re-insert the image which its width is more than 302 px ) into first item and you can see it works quite smoothly.

You should remember when you put a image into a item, you must choose image which its width size is more than 302 px.

I see you also set the Thumbnail Mode to Crop, was this also necessary?

About the K2 categories problem: it now does not show any K2 categories, may I ask what you did to clear the old (faulty) categories which were displayed? Any idea why it does not just display the correct K2 categories?

I have removed some trashed/ empty categories to clear data. I don’t know it is is important for you, so sorry. Before removing, i did take backup your site via Akbackup , so you can restore the site back !
