December 22, 2011 at 11:04 pm #172067I have two questions – one practical, one more general. General first –
1. How, in general, does one add/change content (ie. text) on the website? I know you put content into an article. So say I have an article Story. How do I tell it where to be placed on a given webpage?
2. In particular, for the JA Slideshow, I have the images in place. In the Admin, there is a place in the JA Slideshow Module Manager where you can add a Description (see below – bottom right hand corner) – there was HTML there from the demo. I changed the text there to put new text with my new pictures. However, there must be a way to do this without going into the Module Manager and writing HTML. I expect I can write the content that displays with eeach slide/image in an article. I did this – but how do I hook it to a specific image? (the article is categorized as Homepage > Slideshow category).3. Sorry – one more question. Where is the text in the Footer that says “Designed by ….” (in the Demo)?
Thanks much –
CC

If you want to show an individual article, create a menu item of the type Article Layout and choose the appropriate article. If you want your article to show in the Front Page Blog Layout, you have to identify the article as a Front Page Article.
If you want the article to show in the Section Blog Layout or the Category Blog Layout, you have to assign a Section & Category to the Articles to be displayed in them.

December 26, 2011 at 8:01 pm #431231OK – thanks for your responses.
1. Still not sure how to get content into one of the little widgets on the homepage. Can you direct me to more specific instructions?
2. I looked at the JA Slideshow link you directed me to – link didn’t work – took me to a page that said:
cindycc, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons …..
But I ended up finding the tutorial for JA Slideshow – it seems a bit out of date, but I could follow much of it. However, I did not find an answer to my problem – where do I put the article(s) that describe each of the images in the slideshow? Is the only way to display text for each image by writing it in HTML in the Module Manager for JA Slideshow? Or can it be written into an article and “linked” somehow?
3. Finally, I did purchase a year membership – does that count for the payment you spoke of?
Thanks!
Cindy

December 26, 2011 at 11:05 pm #431259Read this documentation from Joomla on article creation. You may also find many other useful links to check out there!
As far as the permission to see the page, what membership do you have with us? Is is JATC or Developer or what?AuthorPostsViewing 4 posts - 1 through 4 (of 4 total)This topic contains 4 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated by Blaine 12 years, 10 months ago.
