The JA Sideshow (Version: JA slide show 1.0.0 JA slide show module) in our old J1.5 site, http://sufipaths.net/ , has quit working, throws error:

Deprecated: Function eregi() is deprecated in /home/sufip1/public_html/ruhaniat/modules/mod_jaslideshow/mod_jaslideshow.php on line 291

We just updated PHP on our server account to 5.3 — did that to try to correct a problem with the new J2.5 site I’m working on.

Do I need to update the version of JA Slide Show for 1.5 that I’m running? If there’s an updated version, where can I download it?

Hi shafee_howard,

How could I see that error? If you use our ja extension manager component, you can check the update verion and update easily.

Cool, I didn’t think of Extension Manager as working in J1.5 or on older extensions.

The error message printed directly to the screen; the place where the slideshow is supposed to be was filled with copies of that warning instead!

Anyway it’s SOLVED … the folks at HostGator fixed it, added the ~E_DEPRECATED to the error_reporting line. The site appears to display properly.

I just started receiving this error message exactly when we moved the site to GoDaddy.com hosting. What was the fix? I’m not sure where to add the error_reporting line you mentioned above.

Hi there,

You can change it in php.ini file if you have access to this file, otherwise ask your hosting provider to change this for you 🙂
