I need to set up my slideshow like the JA Ironis Demo Site, but I have been unable to do so.

I am running Joomla 1.7, and I have been following the directions on the JA Ironis Template for Joomla 1.7 Userguide with no luck.

I configured the Slideshow Module as in the demo utilizing the Backend Settings screenshot.

I am using the slideshow’s source setting “From Article”, and I have created a SlideShow category for my articles.

I have created an image folder where I am storing my images and thumbnails: images/stories/slideshow/

On my articles, I have entered the flowing piece of code as shown on the JA Ironis Template for Joomla 1.7 Userguide:

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow3.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/sl-03-thumb.jpg} –>

When I save my articles this piece of code seems to break, and no thumbnail or image shows on my JA Slideshow.

Please help me solve this issue, I don’t know what I am doing wrong, thanks.

    Hi oesparza_imd

I have checked your site and all settings for Ja_slideshow are OK

but you have old version of the Ja_Slideshow module the last released is 2.1.4. version, download it from here

Your Ja_T3_Framework plugin must be updated download it from here

uninstall the old versions and install the new releases (module and plugin) after clear your cache

I cannot do because i need a super-user account, my account on your site haven’t the privileges for install

Let me know if this solve your issue

    Hello Pavit,

    Thanks for the quick response!

I have updated the Ja_Slideshow module to the last released version (2.1.4)

I have also updated the Ja_T3_Framework plugin to version (1.3.2)

I still can not get the images/thumbnails to show :((

I have checked my images name/folder and I am pretty sure I am using the right piece of code on my 4 articles, which is the one below:

    Article 1:

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow1.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/sl-01-thumb.jpg”} –>

    Article 2:

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow2.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/sl-02-thumb.jpg”} –>

    Article 3:

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow3.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/sl-03-thumb.jpg”} –>

    Article 4:

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow4.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/sl-04-thumb.jpg”} –>

Could you please see what I am doing wrong? You can now log in as a super-user with the same login credentials you received.

    Thanks in Advance Pavit!

    Hi

I have checked your slideshow folder and images and thumbs are in the same folder, try to create a new folder thumbs in slideshow folder and put your thumbs images in this new folder then change your links in articles.

Let me know if this solve the issue

    Hello Pavit,

I have tried that and I still can’t get this slideshow to work… I am following the directions on the JA Ironis Template for Joomla 1.7 Userguide and no images and/or thumbnails are showing.

The information on the Userguide is very limited and does not cover issues like this one. I have created a thumbs folder inside my slideshow folder just like in the quickstart packge and it is still not working.

This is the piece of code I am using on my articles:

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow1.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/thumbs/sl-01-thumb.jpg”} –>

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow2.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/thumbs/sl-02-thumb.jpg”} –>

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow3.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/thumbs/sl-03-thumb.jpg”} –>

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow4.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/thumbs/sl-04-thumb.jpg”} –>

ALSO – Every time I click on the JAT3 Clean Cache the front end on my site crashes because of the slideshow. I have to unpublish the slideshow module and the republish it in order for the site to go back to normal.

This is so annoying and It is so frustrating to get this slideshow to work — and the Userguide does not offer any solutions to this issue.

Could you please tell me why the JA Slideshow Module and the JAT3 Clean Cache are not working on my site?

    Thanks in Advance Pavit!

    Hello pavit,

I just wanted to let you know that I did what you mentioned on the last PM you sent, and I was finally able to get everything to work.

    Thank You So Much, pavit!!

If anyone is experiencing this problem, I recommend installing the QUICKSTART PACKAGE.

It will definitely save you guys a lot of time!

Hello, I’m also having a problem with the slideshow. I installed the template using the quickstart, then updated the slideshow module and JA Framework plugin as recommended above by Pavit. But it still doesn’t work. I just see the default images that came with the quickstart. Using Firebug I can see that the image path it pointing to src=”/images/resized/images/stories/slideshow/slideshow3_460_320.jpg”. The “resized” directory in the path is throwing this off. I pretty sure this is why the images are not displaying, but I’m not sure how to get it to go to the intended path, shown here in my article code…

    <!– {jaimage main=”images/stories/slideshow/slideshow1.jpg” thumb=”images/stories/slideshow/thumbs/sl-01-thumb.jpg”} –>

I also followed the directions in the User Guide and set my module settings according to the screen shot in the user guide.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!!

I got it to work by turning off the cache on the slideshow module under Advanced Options. Clearing the cache multiple times did not help but turning it completely off did the trick. I did turn caching back on and it’s still working great so I’ll leave it on unless I notice other problems, but so far so good!

Hi dplj1230, do you have any tips on getting the slideshow to work exactly as yours. What I see you have done (That I would like also) is that you removed the thumbs which I have done but for some reason my black area to the right is still half way across the page and I would rather it be a third of the way like yours with the image taking up more space. Any tips on this? :-[

Hmmm, forgive me for not taking good notes but if my memory serves me correctly I had to change the pixel width in the Slideshow module, under Stage Setting > Main Item Width. Mine is set to “620”. If that’s not it, let me know.

Cheers, thanks for coming back to me. That worked great for me. But I did have to edit the css a little to allow this. When I extended the width it just grew out to the right and therefore pushed the whole site wider!! Thanks for the update.
