August 25, 2011 at 12:44 am #167762Is the description field in the JA Slideshow really ready for use with Joomla 1.7? And if it is why does the quickstart version not come with an already working slideshow? Ready to use, analyze and change.
And what is this field good for? Is the text placed in ‘your desc’ to be shown in the pictures? Would be an excellent idea but unfortunately does’t work.

August 25, 2011 at 1:16 am #408266Hi,
Yes JA Slideshow is really ready for Joomla 1.7 and it’s working as an example on JA Community Plus (this is the first template that comes into my mind right now).
The field “Description” is used as on former versions of JA Slideshow to display description (or just a message if you prefer ) for the picture that shows.
You can use code (html tags acctually ) like this :
<h3>Top 10 Math Professors in LA</h3>
<p>Youth Education gives kids endless possibilities to meet new friends, explore new interests and develop their talents</p>
To display a message on your picture at JA Slideshow.I hope that helps you out!
Regards
Manos

August 25, 2011 at 11:55 am #408426Hi pascm (Manos),
this is much better! Only a final (?) question: I would like to show in very big letters the text first and then fade in slowly the picture. Is this possible by using the code in the description field or I better create another slide with the initial message?

August 25, 2011 at 12:07 pm #408428Hi,
You could add some CSS code in ja-slide-desc to achieve this!

August 25, 2011 at 12:20 pm #408432Hi Manos,
YOU can but I can’t. I will try the “classical” solution. Slide1 + Slide2. Thanks!!!

August 25, 2011 at 12:43 pm #408436Yes, you are right. The problem is that there are a lot of “battles” to be fought: MySQL, FeedGator feeds, Teline4 template configurations, life without K2 (awful!!!), Joomla upgrades … but the day will come and life WILL BE good!

September 1, 2011 at 12:05 am #409943I have the same problem on my site. Joomla 1.7 with JA Community 1.7 and the descriptions are not working. I copied the code from above and it made no impact on the descriptions appearing.
