I’ve tried this without much success past the first image.

It looks like all images are preloaded in the background. After the first image displays, the remaining images are also finished animating and they just display their final state.

Is there any way to trigger the start of the animated gif to when it is actually visible, and not on a non-visible layer?

Hi stephenvb,

I think this module will have some problem with the animated gifs because this images has some special attributes. While the slideshow module is using functions of normal image which the PHP is supporing to change the size of image. For this reason, it will have errors when try to change the size of animated gifs.
