I have the same problem with the slideshow2 module.
I have put some images into images/stories/slideshow and also images/slideshow and activated the thumbnails but they do not appear. I checked that there is a resized folder and that it has permissions set at 755. There are some images in there both resized and thumbnail version and it has created sub directories.
Grateful for any any further thought on how to get this working ?
site is at : http://www.staytofish.co.uk and it is running on J1.5.

Dear terje!

The problem i from the folder permission, i created and set 777 for the images folder and resized folder in manual , the problem is fixed
