I would like to use the JA Slideshow2 module. However, I can’t use the “ja-slideshow” position although it is seen in the position list (see image attached) when editing the JA Slideshow2 module.

If I select another position such as “banner” the images pops up in the banner field

Has anyone got similar problems? Any solutions?

    I am using Joomla 1.5.9.

Are you using quickstart? or have installed the template on your joomla installation. I tried Ja Opal on localhost using xampp. It works.

No i did not use quickstart.

However, I manage to get the slidshow working by activating a module in the “user5” position. If one doesn’t have anything in user5 = the slideshow will not appear

Phuu … nice to finally get it working 😀

So your Ja-Slideshow module is working normally from User 5 Position instead of ja-slideshow module position as displayed in the Ja Opal user guide ? Can i request the url to your site? That a strange fix to your problem. Ha ha.

Which template were you using on your joomla prior to Ja Opal?

Hi drarvindc, the slideshow comes to life (i.e. appears in position “ja-slideshow”) only if you have something else published in the “user5” position, such as JA Tabs or similar.

If you unpublish a module using “user5” position, the “ja-slideshow” position will disappear.

Let me know if you have more questions :p

I had exactly the same thing and found that the slideshow would not appear unless you *also* had something in user5. Clearly a CSS problem, but not a horrible workaround.

certainly template developers can not predict the probable usage, individual’s preferences and requirements plus the problems arising out of it. But they can certainly take these questions / fixes into consideration and release fixed / updated versions.
