January 30, 2011 at 5:03 pm #159537Are you going to release a joomla 1.6 version of Ja Social Template?
Please give me an idea as to when the new version of Ja Social Template for Joomla 1.6 will be available.
Thanks

January 30, 2011 at 10:02 pm #374501Hi,
Yes, we would be releasing JA Social for joomla 1.6 for sure, however, that would be only after the availability of JomSocial, Agora and K2 extensions.
A time frame for its release would depend on the 3rd party extension stable release.Arvind

January 31, 2011 at 1:03 am #374509Hello if I use Ja Social 1.5 now how hard will it be to upgrade to 1.6 once you have released it?

January 31, 2011 at 3:30 am #374528Hi,
Migration from 1.5 to 1.6 would be standard. You will need to use third party extension “jupgrade” to migrate the database, reinstall the modules / plugins and reconfigure. For components follow the migration guide provided by their developers.
and for the template, you would need to reinstall it and reconfigure. Joomla 1.6 does not support legacy mode anymore.

February 2, 2011 at 6:56 pm #374882Before trying to upgrade make sure your database prefix is jos_! If you changed it like most people did for security reasons the extension above won’t work… You will need to change your database prefix to jos_, then use jupgrade…

February 7, 2011 at 8:52 pm #375450Question about this: Why Agora instead of Kunena?

February 8, 2011 at 2:00 am #375465Why are you waiting on these extensions? Let say a person is not using K2, Jomsocial and agora, why are they forced to wait? I don’t use K2 or Agora and yet you are telling me I am stuck in wait mode, when I know K2 and Jomsocial are 4 weeks away from being updated. Which focres me to lose a month of my membership waiting on Joomlart to update this template.
This should have been planned out months before Joomla 1.6 was released. I do hope my membership is extended because of the way you are forcing people to wait without giving them an option to update their template and install joomla 1.6 and play around or learn the new features while the 3rd party extensions are being updated by developers thats not a part of Joomlart.

February 8, 2011 at 2:10 am #375472I don’t know about K2 or Agora but I believe JomSocial is feature frozen with the 2.1 available which in their versioning 2.1 is the beta of 2.2. Also wrt my question about Agora/Kunena, Kunena has their 1.6 compatible version out already.

February 11, 2011 at 5:54 am #376126I am also waiting for the JA Social template. As Joomlart guys are saying that they shall release it once jomsocial, k2 and agora comes out, one wouldn’t be able to test and configure everything else except these components. And it is not necessary that everybody is going to use all the three components.
I am also feeling that my membership is expiring for no reason. I am testing many templates, but JA Social is the one for which I have signed up for the membership which I need for one my production site. -
