When can we expect JA Social to be released for use with Joomla 1.7?

    Hi wineblue2,

I can assure you that our dev’s are working as hard as they can to upgrade as many templates/modules/plugins they can. Unfortunately there is no ETA on when this is going to be published but we are trying our best to get it asap.

Everyone will be notified asap new updates are out from our blog! Until then, your patience is much appreciated.

    Regards

OK. We received a web development request utilizing this template in J1.7 so hopefully it will not take too long. Thanks!

My joomla accidently got upgraded to 1.7 and I’m using JA Social. What kind of problems are expected? I haven’t seen anything major.

    Thanks!

I did a bit of testing this morning on the JA Social template using also JomSocial. It appears that despite my having installed all of the modules and plugins for JA Social none of the plugins are appearing in the Plugin Manager. In fact the only “plugin” that seems to be appearing is actually the JomSocial “Wall” application. I’ve also noted that we are unable to determine the module positions through the use of the ?tp=1 URL extension of our domain for this site nor can we get any of our modules to appear on the front end after publishing them with specific locations.

In order to be able to see module positions with ?tp=1 you have to enable this feature from Template settings

Unfortunately, as I am fairly new to the T3 framework it would be helpful to get a bit more information on this as I am not seeing any settings in the template settings for JA Social that control this feature. Is there a wiki I can reference?

Manos, as promised, here is an issue I came across:

Have you tried the new release specifically for J1.7? – http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=20334

Oh wow, I didn’t know that was out yet. How do you recommend installing it? Will it erase anything I have if I just install it over my current template/modules?

    Thanks Phill

if you only upgrade the template / framework and have not made ANY changes to the core template files it will not effect things. If you have, then either redo them, or copy the changes into your local folders to override.

Try using the JA Extension Manager to update all your components.
