Hi guys,

JomSocial team claims that the template for JA Social has been updated and we should ask you for it. However I can’t find it anywhere?

The JomSocial guys claim that they have updated it and gave it to Joomlart. So Joomlart should just release it?

The good thing about we have to wait updating to jomsocial 2.6 is that all other ppl can report the bugs.

I cant remember any stable release from jomsocial taht have been stable …. (could contain irony)

lol…yeah, but this time they released a series of alpha’s and beta’s, so a lot of bugs should have been fixed. Besides that it still is a further development of 2.4. Not all code has changed, just elements to improve it.

Just curious . . . If the JomSocial folks have the fixes, why can’t they simply provide them to you?
– pending/providing your confirmation to them of your active/current JATC Membership status, of course …

Well I think they are polite enough not to redistribute your design? You make money out of selling these things right?

It is not up to them to decide who should or should not get your templates.

I think you may have misunderstood me . . .

I wasn’t meaning distributing the template itself . . . merely the JomSocial created update fixes for the template
(for those who already are using the JA Social template to integrate).

No, I understood fine. Your JomSocial template is yours. Not theirs. They cannot distribute what is not theirs. They helped updating the template for you. But it remains your design, your product, your money.

Not all company’s would apreciate if another company would distribute their product (or even a part of it). My best guess is that they dont want to start this discussion, and I think they are right, looking from a business perspective.

I don’t altogether disagree with you . . . I simply thought that if they have the code fix(s) for updating the JA Social template – which, assuming you acquired such legitimately via your JATC Membership, you can customize/modify any way you like – that the JomSocial folks providing the recommended code fixes to update things is not so much a violation of any proprietary issues.

Nevertheless, I will escalate the matter to our JA Devs to see if they received the info from the JomSocial folks and, if so, if there is any prognosis for when/if any updates will be implemented into the JA Social template code.

From what I know they basically rebuild the template and it will not be like sending few patched files, but more like releasing the whole template. As you sell it, they prefer to distribute it through Joomlart 🙂
At least that’s what they say.

Where is the updated template? I thought that the Jomsocial team has released it! Why don’t you publish it? At least you can answer the discussion!

This is what the Jomsocial guys said in their blog:

“We have updated JA Social, GK Music, GK TWN2, RT Affinity, and RT Tachyon templates given their popularity and special support for JomSocial. We have pushed these templates to respective developers.”

Hey Joomlart,

If the template is not fully finished you have blog, you have Facebook! Just answer our questions, please!
