February 13, 2011 at 4:05 pm #160134Hi all,
I like JA social very much and i want to use it on joomla 1.6. The problem is that the current version of the theme runs without problems with J1.6 but its plugins and modules don’t.
Is there any plan to make it available to release a new version of JA social including the j1.6 compatible JA plugins and modules as:# JA Slideshow 2 Module
# JA Twitter Module
# JA Facebook Activity
# JA FacebookLikeBox
# JA ExtManager Components
# JA Popup Plugin
# JA Thumbnail Plugin
# JA Systems T3 Plugin
# JA Typo Plugin
# JA Reweet Plugin
# JA FacebookShare Plugin
# JA FacebookLike PluginThank you.

February 14, 2011 at 7:33 am #376569Hi there,
Most of the above mentioned modules / plugins have been updated for joomla 1.6 and you can check them here >> http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=50 (look for Joomla 1.6 sub category in each extension download). You can also refer to general userguide for most of the extensions for Joomla 1.6 here >> http://www.joomlart.com/forums/forum/joomla-2-5-tutorials/
But since we have not released the JA Social for Joomla 1.6, the specific userguides are not available. You will have to refer to Joomla 1.5 userguide for correct / optimized settings for these modules / plugins.
At the same time, we wont be able to support any bugs unless we release the JA Social template. Hope you understand this and we would be happy to receive your feedback on this.
Regards
Arvind

February 14, 2011 at 8:53 am #376593Hi There,
Not before JomSocial version is released for Joomla 1.6… and even if we release JA Social without JomSocial, updating it for JomSocial would take months, as we already have a huge line of planned upgrades and we are not going to slow it down for one template.
So, ask JomSocial to release their part and we shall release ours. 😀
Regards
Arvind

February 14, 2011 at 11:53 am #376634Thanks for the info,
We shall line up JA Social for upgrade 2 weeks after JomSocial is released for Joomla 1.6 . Like everywhere, each release is followed by a bug fix release and since, almost every release of JomSocial have broken our templates, we would wait for some time and then upgrade.
Thanks again.

February 14, 2011 at 5:42 pm #376675But Agora Forum is a problem.
In the forum, i have see :
“Joomla 1.6 stable just was released – so no it is not compatible and no there is not work in progress…
We plan to make it compatible in future releases, but we can not obligate with timeframe”Arvind Chauhan ModeratorArvind Chauhan

February 15, 2011 at 6:44 pm #376830We are aware of the problem with Agora delay. As said JA Social is a big template project and if we do not provide the same template features as with Joomla 1.5, our current users will feel betrayed. We would like to avoid any such situation. Thats the reason, we have labelled all our joomla 1.6 releases as beta, waiting for K2 arrival in the Joomla 1.6 arena.
We have high hopes that with time all pieces will fall in place and we will have better products for our members.

February 16, 2011 at 10:38 pm #377030Fall into place? You are making everyone that don’t use K2 wait and eating up their membership… K2 is not working on an update at this time and you should know this already. Everyone is complaining when it comes to K2…. Have anyone at Joomlart looked on their website? Because they are not rushing to update their component.
So falling into place is not something you should be using when your paying members are asking for an update…
And to think everyone has to wait for a component thats not apart of Joomlart is crazy! If I can’t get the service I paid for I would like my money back!!! The planning that I have to put into my site is costing me money… even this new template is not ready for Joomla 1.6 and you still released it… Now thats cheap! And please save me the sad stories when it comes to time and falling into place. Because I know if I don’t pay my membership fee theres no way you would give me access to Joomlart system, so stop asking everyone to give you time, thats not carried over to joomlart members plans.
this is my third template, and just when I think I got one thats works I am forced to wait for a third party component. Now I don’t see that option on your home…

February 16, 2011 at 10:46 pm #377033What do you mean by that? JA have no control over what the guys at K2 do. As JA have advertized various templates with K2 support it leaves JA in a difficult position with the 1.6 version. If K2 decide not to release a J1.6 version then JA will have no option but to drop support in the J1.6 version of their templates. This will leave members complaining about something that is beyond the control of JA. The templates may be marked as beta but they are still usable, just lacking the K2 element. Non K2 users are not left waiting nor using up their membership.
Agora support in my mind is also going to be a hard choice. Since the release of this template the Agora team have decided to make Agora a paid component where it used to be free. Again, that makes this template hard to release with its original features.
So with all those problems it is better for JA to continue working hard on the rest of their portfolio to bring more template into the Joomla 1.6 fold.

February 17, 2011 at 1:07 am #377039I would like first to thank you guys in JA for your great themes, we really appreciate JA art and efforts to provide all of these good themes to us.
I’d like you to take this topic as an important suggestion from your clients in which doesn’t require you to defend your policy or plans. But just to find more useful ways to help your customers to benefit more from your services.
As JA Social is one of the most powerful themes of JA, We are suggesting that JA provides its clients with a j1.6 version as soon as possible. We are not demanding a k2 neither Agora compatibility (if they don’t care enough to make it possible) as JA template and JA modules (in a quickstart package or separated downloads files) will be more than enough and no one should demand you to include 3rd party components that are not available yet.
Also there is a reply that telling me to go and download extensions i need from the extensions lib. I can’t download extensions, i only limited to templates and their modules or plugins. That is what i need and that is what i subscripted for. but thank you for the reply anyway.
I hope you find our request as a good “Invitation to think” about a solution for JA Social.1 user says Thank You to onlinize for this useful post

February 17, 2011 at 3:58 am #377063Thats the problem in a nutshell! They don’t have control of what K2 does, thats why it shouldn’t integrate anything into a template that their members pay for… Because everyone that has this template is now waiting for an update from a third party not Joomlart but K2! I don’t use this (K2) Component nor do I use Agora, but yet I am being forced to wait for an update that might never come, if you follow what the guys at K2 is saying or not saying. And as we wait is Joomlart gong to extend everyone with the Ja Social Template membership?
This is what you should be asking…And why should I be looking for a solution for Joomlart? And for the record I paid for a membership, joomlart didn’t give me anything for free! I just want what I paid for nothing less and nothing more.
Heres a solution for you: Remove the Components that is delaying the release of the joomla 1.6 version of Ja Social… Its that simple.

February 17, 2011 at 4:06 am #377070charles,
I understood your point in the earlier post and we will look into it.
It does not work the way you suggest. Remember, users using JA Social in Joomla 1.5, when they migrate they will need the same styles, so that their sites do not break or lack the styles. Maintaining the site layout and styles is very important when you migrate sites. So the solution you are trying to put forward does not make sense.
Just because you dont use the full feature set, does not mean that no one else does the same.
Hope, i have made my point clear here. You need to have patience.

Allow me to discuss your point as follow:
1. I think most of j1.6 users will begin their sites from fresh j1.6 installation, Even joomla has not release yet an offecial migration package from j1.5 to j1.6
2. Most people here who need to start new websites using j1.6 is because we need the new core features that j1.6 provides such as the ACL and the new catagory structure, So we don’t focuss on Agora nor the K2 (even i think K2 has no future anymore or not as before after j1.6 is released and there is no point to include K2 in your j1.6 themes releases any more)
3. If we assume that some people will risk and migrate running j1.5 to j1.6, They need the JA Social and JA modules and plugins included in Social to be ready for JA Social.
4. Give people a chance to use JA Social on the new J1.6 for more capabilities and the power of the new joomla.
Thank you for giving us a chance to discuss this with you, And i hope that JA team will seriously consider this request in your current plans.2 users say Thank You to onlinize for this useful post

February 18, 2011 at 3:52 am #377255I need to make sure I understand what you are saying? Are you saying Style is the issue or the components (K2 and Agora)? And whats happens when you finally figure out that K2 is not going to be update for Joomla 1.6?
Because your post keep saying you are waiting on these guys to update their components and then you plan to release the new Ja Social Template. But what you have not said in any of your post, especially the ones that ask members to be patience, is that Joomlart intends to extend everyone that is waiting on this update membership! People membership is expiring as you ask everyone to be patience! And when it comes to my business, I can only speak for myself, not everyone on Joomlart. I chose not to use K2 and Agora Component, and all components and plugins should be an options anyway, especially if its a third party product. Who in their right mind would want to risk losing members because an outside source decided to discontinue or delayed upgrading their product…
So if you want me to be patience, than I want my membership extended for everyday you are forcing me to wait!
