Open the template.css file and go to around line 401 and you will see the following code:

h1.componentheading span, .componentheading span {
background: url(../images/span-bg.gif) no-repeat right center;
font-size: 92%;
padding: 5px 15px 5px 15px;
text-transform: uppercase;
}

You can remove the line highlighted in red and it should solve your problem.
