I’ve uploaded the quick installation package to my UK2.net host, but it won’t allow the installer to create a MySQL database due to permissions. I created the database and user manually, but the installer is still trying to create it. UK2 advised to install it manually from CPanel or through Softaculous.

Exactly how do I do this? Uk2.net are not interest in guiding me though this. Installing Joomla is easy, but I want the DEMO content to save time.

    Any help appreciated.

    Ok,

Here is what you need. Manually make a Database, user with password. Make sure the user is provided full access to the new blank database.

Provide these details to the joomla while installing and click on the install sample data on the last step (the step where you would be asked to insert the site title).

If you still find it difficulty in installing the quickstart let me know. Remember, if you can install joomla, you can install quickstart too, coz the quickstart is same as joomla with added demo content… nothing else changed.

Arvind, many thanks for the quick reply. I can’t see a method of starting the quick install within Softaculous. I created a new folder in the root and extracted the quick install package, but again I’m not sure how to start the install within CPanel. Perhaps I should run the standard Softaculous Joomla install and then import the demo content/modules..etc..?

I’ve now installed joomla from the Softaculous menu option. I installed JA Sulfur manually, but JS_theme_Sulfur theme refused to load, as did Kuna_theme_sulfur. Think I’ll give up on this template; it’s just troublesome.

I think it’s about time for you to change your hosting company

You need to now access the folder from the web url not from the cpanel.

For example. your domain name is http://www.mydomain.com and your new folder is new_folder

then use http://www.mydomain.com/new_folder to run the online joomla installer.

You need to extract the quickstart in the folder and point to the folder path from frontend to access it.

Thanks, i din knew that. Still no one would recommend using auto installer such as fantastico or equivalent. One should install joomla manually.
