August 20, 2008 at 8:18 pm #132441Hi,
Nice template, however, I cannot get the JA Tabs to display properly.
Details:
Joomla: v1.5.6
Module: mod_jatabs: v1.5.0
Plugin: JA Tabs for Joomla! 1.5 version 1.0I did not use the quickstart option. I installed both extensions after installing Joomla.
Problem:
In the JA Tabs module configuration, if the “Type Tabs” parameter is set to “Module” mode, the tabbed content displays correctly on the web page, but if “Type Tabs” parameter is set to “Contents” mode, it does not.When in Contents mode, the display on the webpage shows not only the tabbed content, but also shows the JA Tabs styling code text that is generated from the settings selected in the JA Tabs module configuration.
This showing of the styling text also occurs whether the code entered into the “Enter content code” textarea is of the type {jatabs type=”content” …, etc.} or {jatabs type=”articles” …, etc.} .
If anyone can provide a solution, I’d be grateful.
As a side note, I want to say that the documentation for this module is less than helpful. It took me quite some time to figure out what code to put into the “Enter content code” textarea box, even after reading the user manual and every post in this forum.
For those who find themselves trying to understand how to format the “Enter content code” text when using the “Type Tabs” setting of “Contents” mode, try looking at this page: JA Tabs Default Styling. Specifically, example # 3. Type=content and example # 4. Type=articles examples.
Furthermore, no matter what I try, I cannot get the “Contents” mode to use the Labra css style sheet; and yes, I did find the post that explains that the Labra template folder is missing from the standalone plugin installation file. I followed the instructions in that thread to upload the missing folder into my current install.
As for a live link, I cannot provide one at this time. If it is absolutely essential, I’ll setup a dummy site and try to duplicate the problem. But before I do that, I’d like to know if anyone has JA Tabs working in Joomla 1.5.x in “Contents” mode. If so, then I’ll go through my install and setup configs with a fine-tooth comb to see what I might have missed.
BTW, here are some samples of the code I used in the “Enter content code” box:
type=articles example:
{jatabs type="articles" ids="9, 8, 7" style="labra"}{/jatabs}
type=content example:
{jatabs type="content" position="top" height="240" mouseType="mouseover" animType="animMoveHor" }
<img src="/images/flow/test1.png" alt="Sample image" align="left" title="Sample image 1" /><p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit.</p>
<img src="/images/flow/test2.png" alt="Sample image" align="left" title="Sample image 2" /><p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit.</p>
{/jatabs}
As I said, the tabs will display on the web page, but they are using the “default” CSS style sheet and there is the generated JA Tabs styling code being wrapped around the displayed output. For example …
This code shows up on the page:
{jatabs type="content" animType="animMoveHor" style="labra" position="top" widthTabs="120" heightTabs="30" width="675" height="170" mouseType="click" duration="1000" }The above code text is then followed by the actual tabbed display, then below that ..
… this closing tag shows up:
{/jatabs}Both the module and plugin are set to “enabled”.
I must be missing something, right?

August 20, 2008 at 10:48 pm #266377Well, I figured this out by installing the Quickstart version of Labra on my local machine.
Now, I thought I had tried this way of writing the code without success, but I guess I must’ve missed something because now it works. With “Type Tabs” set to “Contents” the following code works:
<img src="/images/flow/test1.png" alt="Sample image" align="left" title="Sample image 1" /><p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit.</p><img src="/images/flow/test2.png" alt="Sample image" align="left" title="Sample image 2" /><p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit.</p>
Honest, I thought I had tried this because it only makes sense since the displayed code had the redundant JA Tabs styling text.
It may, however, been broken even with that code before because I had not created the “ja-tabs” module position. I discovered this module position when I was checking the settings in the Quickstart version of the template. My non-Quickstart version didn’t have this postion, so I created it. This wasn’t a straightforward task, so anyone reading this wondering how to do it, just go into your Module Manager, click the “New” button, choose “Custom HTML” from the list. Give the module a title, any title you want will do; now, take a look at the “Position” dropdown field. Looks like an ordinary dropdown, right? Well, it’s not, in Joomla 1.5.x this is where you actually can TYPE IN a new field name. Unlike Joomla 1.0.x, there is no module position manager — you just use the module manager and create new module positions on the fly. So, as such, I just placed the cursor in the field and typed “ja-tabs”. Save the module and you have your new postion. That’s it. Very anti-climactic.
As for the use of the “articles” code inside the JA Tabs module, I don’t think that’s possible. Content code, yes. Modules, yes also.
