I have the latest version of JA Portfolio with the latest plugins and extension installed and enabled. I have a JA Tabs module in the content-mass-top position that is not showing my K2 items or category items per the settings for the module. It only seem to work for article IDs.

Please advise.

You can go to Administrator site: In module you make module with article(Latest News, Related Articles…) and go back Menu ->Main Menu. In K2 menu -> Parameters (JA Extended)-> Modules-> select module article.
