June 21, 2008 at 7:54 pm #129977I want to create users myself and would like to keep the ‘login’ portion and remove or hide the ‘register’ portion.
I have set the position to mod_login to ja-login. The Admin->Site Configuration is set to ‘NO’ for ‘Allow User Registration’ and ‘No’ for ‘New User Account Activation’ but it still shows both the login and register portion.
Can you tell me how to remove the register portion?
Thank you

June 23, 2008 at 1:24 pm #255522I would like an answer to this problem in J 1.5.
Just another issue, hainn84 would you please stop marking topics as “answered” just because you have posted a response. This topic is a typical example. You posted a response but thats all, you haven’t answered the question and marking it up as such is confusing and a waste of peoples time.
Just mark the question as answered when a definite solution to a question is posted otherwise leave it alone because we can see on the forum when a response has been posted without that.

June 23, 2008 at 1:31 pm #255526Go in your joomla modules and disable (unpublish) the login module. Connect by ftp on your joomla folder and look for modules directory. Look for login_module. Create backup of your login module. Open the php file and look for “register”. Delete the text (or the whole line. Publish your module and test.

I am not sure if the “Answered” is automatic. If this is the case, then it was not Hainn who might be responsible. If it is done manually, it is still not sure who did it because technically, any Moderaor can do that. This was discuss in the feedback and the reason is similar to yours — redundancy, misleading and waste of time. Even Menalto stated that he did not like it.
Hung even responded. But, it apparently will still be status quo.

I am not sure what you are trying to do here. There is a way to unpublish both “login” and “sign in” because they are one module.
Just a question: If you only have a login form, how did those chosen to login been able to register?

Citron,
Thank you, it worked perfectly. Now I only have the Login item like I wanted in my first post. 🙂

directcorrespondentlender,
I see, yeah that would be an option. I was thinking more in terms of just more secure registration for a wider audience.
