September 14, 2009 at 6:21 pm #144207Hi everyone,
During the last 2 days since our 1st stable release, we have picked up some minor reported issues as well as comments on the forum. We feel this quick update are necessary improvement for Teline III.
Due to the complexity of the Teline III (a combination of 12 SVN sources and mini projects (each extension is split into mini project), we can not provide a patch for the updates from 1.0 to 1.1. However, below are what the team have been finished till the closing time of JA office today.
A. Version 1.1 informaion
1. Changelogs
Release Notes – JATCTelineiii – Version 1.1 Stable
** Bug
* [JATCTELINEIII-114] – Contact page (category view & default view) does not balance
Ref: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showpost.php?p=143890&postcount=30** Improvement
* [JATCTELINEIII-108] – Improve CSS style when have only left modules or right modules published
In the layouts file, if you use only left, right or left + right modules (right module on the right, left modules on the left), some CSS background style need some tunings
* [JATCTELINEIII-117] – Using JText for JA News2, JA Weather, JA Stocks, JA Newsticker modules to support multi languages translation
Thanks VisiGod for this arlert & suggestion* [JATCTELINEIII-126] – Rename all module + plugins of easier management
Remove the “Module, Plugin” words out of the extension name:
Eg: JA Comment Plugin is now JA Comment* [JATCTELINEIII-127] – Additional layouts improvement – 3columns classic layouts added
Removing the layout2.php & 1column.php layout in templates/ja_teline_iii/layouts folder. Adding the 3columns-classic.php layouts with followings improvements:
– NEW: Support 3 Columns – 2 Columns Left Layout
– NEW: Support 3 Columns – Classic Layout
– IMPROVEMENT: Various CSS tweaks for better compatibility & stability.
– FIXED: 2, 4 & 5 article column broken in IE !!!!!2. Affected files
All modules & plugins. Most of the changes are in ini & xml files3. Download
As normal the teline 1.0 stable is now replaced with 1.1 stable4. Other notes:
We are working on the minimum PHP requirement for Teline III. If you are using PHP <= 4.4 then you will encounter this problem
The issue has not been covered in this release, we will provide the update within the next 2 days.B. Will there be any update in the near future?
Yes, we will release update if we feel it is necessary for JA members (from the summary of issues on ticket system, on forums)
C. Best way to customize & get it updated later?
From my expericence, most of the updates from now will be for for included extensions, it will not affect the templates so you can start the customization on your projects. However, the best way to adopt any customization, (especially css/html layout customization) is to put them in seperate file so you can upgrade easily later.
Thank you very much for all of your support on the Teline III development till now. We have not been able to make it this far without your help

September 14, 2009 at 7:09 pm #317351Thanks a lot.
JA Telline III is a masterpiece 🙂
I didn’t know about the stable version because you didn’t make a separate article for JA Telline III so the JA RSS was not updated…I propose to make an article for it like other templates, so that some guys like me will be awared through RSS.
Thanks.

September 14, 2009 at 7:20 pm #317354It looks great that you are doing so quick updates to this great Template.
But i would like to know how you are going in the future with updates with Teline III.
I have started building my site with Teline III as it was highlighted as stable. Now i read, if im not wrong, that i should make a new clean install as there is no update step from v1.0 to v1.1 provided.
Now my question is, what are the future plans of updates?
When i start now again working with v1.1 and in 5 days we will get v1.2, do i have to install it again?Cheers

NickelDear Nickel,
Its certainly is a justified point. It would be difficult to say that there wont be any more versions of Teline iii… especially when its a new framework with multiple new extensions. Your point has been flashed to Mr. Hung and other mods. Hope to see some patches in future instead of complete download packages….. However, as a precaution, its better to avoid modifying Template files for now….. develop your site, demo content wont be changing only the templates core files might see some changes. Can not assure you of anything right away though.
Use Teline iii, develop your site content, avoid hacking of template core files for now….. few more days…. Any further changes in Teline iii will only be for good. Will certainly request for patch files instead of Complete packages.
Arvind

NickelMost of the customization for template are in your demo content + css/html. When upgrade, there will be no problem with your content and if the css modification are made by loading independent css then it will be all fine

There is a minor change in layout.php file for the modules position
In 1.0 version, the weather + stock modules are in col-mass position.
<blockquote>
‘right-mass-top’ =>’col-mass‘,
‘right-mass-bottom’ =>’col-mass2′,
</blockquote>and now it should be placed at col-mass1 position.
<blockquote> ‘right-mass-top’ =>’col-mass1‘,
‘right-mass-bottom’ =>’col-mass2′,</blockquote>You can change the module positions for the weather + stock modules into col-mass1 to display it on frontpage

Thank you Benitos for quick respond, bit confused a while, maybe Hung need some sleep!
but most of all, am happy that there is ‘now’ the information of the template change log!
Hopefully will be on all of JA templates soon. -
