    Hi

If you have made changes directly in template core files and upgrade the template keeping the existing template in the site, yes, the changes may be overwritten. But if you have made a local theme and have added your changes in css / blocks etc in that theme then you can just take a backup of the same and use it in the J 1.7 compatible template.

In any case I would suggest you to take a backup of the extension that is going to be affected due to upgrade, or take a backup of whole site in case of Joomla core update.

Also, allow me to advise that we are in continuous progress to upgrade our templates and extensions for J1.7. Please stay tuned to our BLOG and TEMPLATE UPDATES section of of the main site – as we will publish notification of all updated releases there.

JoomlArt has released our T3 framework Plugin which can help you upgrade for j1.7 by yourself if you can not wait. The details can be found via: http://www.joomlart.com/blog/jat3-framework/ja-t3-framework-hotfix-for-joomla-17-upgrades.

I would expect JA to consider a template’s popularity when determining their upgrade-priority,. but it seems like that is not a criteria for them, or else Teline IV would have been one of the first templates to be upgraded.

It is not that simple I am afraid. Teline IV has had a lot of people working on it but as it is such a complex template testing and fixing to make fully compatible with J1.7 is taking longer than expected.

JA are working very hard to get as many templates available for J1.7 as possible. JA currently have more templates available for J1.7 than any other club. Some clubs are not even planning to update their older templates to J1.7 which is a real shame. All clubs are under a lot of pressure with the current release schedule of Joomla making it a big task to keep current. Hopefully this will all settle down somewhat with the release of J2.5 next year.

I hear what you’re saying, my friend.

The fact of the matter is that the larger/more-involved templates – such as the Teline series – take much longer to update/upgrade than do the (relatively) less involved templates. As such, the JA Development Team (“Dev Team”, for short) wanted to try to update a good number of templates as possible for J1.7 … whilst continuing to work on the bigger ones (such as the Teline series).

As you can SEE HERE, a good number of Club Templates have already been updated for J1.7.

Rest assured, the update for the Teline Series Templates has been, and continues to be, underway – and will be released in the not too distant future. In the interim, we most certainly appreciate your patience and understanding with the time and process it takes – which includes a great deal of testing to make sure there are as few potential issues/bugs (if any) prior to release

Rest assured, my friend . . . . the Telines for J1.7 are coming.

    😎
