I have the above site working almost perfectly. I’ve hit one problem I can’t solve though.

A number of articles in my site are set to have access restricted to a particular group of users. In the global configuration for articles, I have used the setting “Show unauthorised links” so that I can display some intro text and a “Sign in to read more” type link.

    This all works fine.

However, if you know the specific URL of a protected article, you can view the entire article. This is a problem because I want to be able to send e-bulletins with links to the articles but some of the people receiving the bulletins should not be able to see the whole article and would need to become a member in order to do so.

An example would be this article http://www.sandwich.org.uk/index.php/campden-bri/340-fresh-produce-seminar-20th-march-2014 where the “Register to Read More” link should appear after the first paragraph and the rest of the article should be hidden.

If I disable the JA Thumbnail plugin, that is what happens, but with the plugin enabled, it reverts to showing the entire article.

If change the access level within the plugin controls to the same as the articles which are protected, they work. However all the other articles which aren’t protected no longer use the Thumbnail plugin.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Pete,

It is really weird issue since we did not encounter the same error when our plugin harms the access level of articles. As you know, JA Thumbnail plugin just simply takes a role of displaying the articles images into a gallery.

However, we will still be happy to check out this issue for you. So, can you help us by taking a backup of site before we start to debug this weird issue ?

    Hi Leo,

Due to time constraints, I’ve had to disable the Thumbnail plugin on the live site.

What I could do is put a copy of the site onto a development domain for you to play with. Would that work?

@pete: It is fine for me to help you debug this issue on sub-directory site or your development domain. Let me know when it is ready.
