I have been brainstorming this one for a while without any success. I hope somebody will be able to help me. I’m developing the website locally (localhost) so I cannot give any login information. Here is the problem:

I was working with the template JA Tiris J1.7 and somehow I realized that when I click the link in any of the 3 JA Sidenews images that are in the frontpage it took me to the right article BUT with the JA Slideshow on top of it. In the regular JA Tiris template, when you click in one of the JA Sidenews images, it takes you to the article (without any slideshow).

The JA Slideshow is only activated for Home page. So, why the JA Sidenews article is taking me to the Home page?.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?.

    Thanks

I am also experiencing this problem. It has also been discussed on other forums (http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-sidenews-article-opens-on-homepage/) but no solution has been given.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this.

    Thanks

Slightly different situation but the solution is the same.

In Template manager, pick the Tiris template. Click on “Layouts”. Clone the default layout and call it slideshow. Now click on Edit.

    Delete this line

    <block name="slideshow" main-inner="2">slideshow,sidenews</block>

Save and then save at the top of the page.

Click on “Profiles”. Click new. Call it slideshow.

Scroll down to layout options and make sure that Desktop Layout is chosen as slideshow. Assign this profile on the left hand side to all pages except home. This will mean that home picks up the profile with a slideshow block in it and the other pages will not.

If you have two languages already assigned then you’ll need to create a profile for each one and assign the pages as above for each language leaving the home page on their original profiles. Save, clear JAT3 cache and check it.

    Thanks for the response Swissa.

Not exactly what I was after, but having another go at it this morning I solved my problem. I had started with the JA Tiris Quickstart and after getting my own content up and running, I cleaned out all the superfluous stuff. The result was I didn’t have a content link for my side news category. So I created a new menu called ‘hidden menu’ and created a blog layout child category for my sidenews stuff. Everything now works fine.

Glad you solved it and thanks for coming back and posting how you did it!

No worries. There’s so much going on in these templates. When you clean them out you’re never quite sure what’s needed and what isn’t. Have a great one
