February 28, 2012 at 6:27 pm #174404I am using Tiris 2.5 w/ Joomla 2.5.1. I am at the point now where I am trying to configure the payment section. I am trying to use paypal but have been unable to setup it up. Do I need to use paypal sandbox or can I use the regular paypal? I am not sure also where I configure getting an immdeiate response when payment has been recv’d?

February 28, 2012 at 6:42 pm #440655Possibly if you posted this in the correct forum (Tiris) you’d stand a better chance of a answer from users familiar with all things Tirus, also makes it easier to search. Paypal sandboxing is used to test only that is: it runs through the process but actually doesn’t affect your account balances etc. I haven’t used Joomshopping that’s supplied with Tiris going for Hikashop and good (free) support instead. so can’t help on the actual setup procedures and response emails, exit screens etc. Try getting answers on the joomshopping forum perhaps? or pay the astronomical sum they demand for their “all day personal” support.

February 28, 2012 at 7:01 pm #440663I knew I should have chosen other degrees except a Juris Doctorate Degree (Law School) and a bachelor’s Degree in Business then i would have been able to figure out what forum to post in to get an answer. Wait!! I have posted in here about Tiris questions and have gotten wonderful answers, not from you, and have been more then satisfied with the support. Thanks for the response. Itruly appreciate you taking the time out to write such a thoughtful response. LOL:p

Shane</blockquote>Not a big fan then Shane?!
Play with the sandbox and all you will get is sand in your eyes. IN MY EXPERIENCE (deliberately in caps), you’ll hunt for problems that actaully don’t exist in a live site.
Shane is right. There are lots of threads (478!) over at Joom Shopping on this and the reality is that it is best you sort this yourself. Letting someone else configure payment gateways for you is really opening yourself to risk.

P.S. Shane. They do a deal on paypal config for you – NOT A DAILY RATE! 😀 😀

February 28, 2012 at 7:17 pm #440673Shane just needs to find a little humility and remember that users on this forum are actually pretty intelligent. I’m sure he is right, but being a PAYING customer and a man of 50 years of age an attitude is not warranted, welcomed or accepted.
Anyway i am not wanting to have anybody configure it for me Swissa!! I just need a translation.

February 28, 2012 at 8:11 pm #440684Sadly having only a lowly B.SC (Computer Science), a Dip TH and a Adv. Dip Th. I can relate to not being intelligent either.
Not a fan of Joomshopping? no I’m not mainly cause the developers demand a lot for any form of support so I’m led to believe by their comments on JED. I believe JA did themselves and all of us a disservice by using it.
But that’s just my opinion. And at 55 years of age I don’t accept overeaction to a valid comment re posting in correct forums as it DOES make it hard to search for a particluar template answer nothing more.
Time for my insulin and blood pressure medication ppl, I’m get cranky when both are high 🙂

February 28, 2012 at 8:48 pm #440694I tend to agree about the Joomshopping support, it is very lacking.
Here is my guess at the choice of package here. This is only my guess, I have not asked the design team why. These are my opinions, not those of JA. So here goes
There was a huge demand for a shopping template for Joomla. But which platform to choose? Virtuemart would have been the obvious choice but sadly there was no sign on the horizon as to whether there would be a J1.6/7/2.5 version. Next we had Hikashop which has superb support but at the time was not listed on the JED for various reason which have now been sorted. As such the devs may not have even known about it. We had Redshop for which a load of work went into supporting it in this template. Sadly as time went on the JA guys found a lot of problems with Redshop so although the work was all but complete the final release did not have the support. So all that was left was Joomshopping which at the time seemed quite promising but alas while it is a good package the support is expensive or totally lacking.
I for one would hope the next JA shopping template supports Hikashop and Virtuemart. For me that would be a winner.
Now if you would all stop going hypo or hyper on me I shall enjoy my chocolate and bottle of full fat Coke knowing that my insulin can sort itself out. I really feel for you guys actually, diabeties seems to becoming more common sadly.
Oh, have you managed to configure your paypal setup?

February 28, 2012 at 9:33 pm #440703Don’t know what you are all moaning about?!
I think it’s a great product, it rocks for seo and it hasn’t really failed me in any area – yet. Fingers crossed. (Well, apart from their undocumented upgrade changelogs :-()
I think JA did themselves proud with Tiris. Especially with the upgrade to 2.5.1.
Of course, I have a distinct advantage in not only do I speak German, which makes finding stuff easier, but I also understand Germans. English speakers say “can I have a beer please” and then say “thank you”, Germans just say “a beer”. They speak the same way in the forum! It can feel like the lion’s den. 😀
Anyway, glad you guys didn’t leave it on a negative.
If I can be of any help in the future, either with JS, or the German, just holler! 🙂

February 28, 2012 at 9:40 pm #440705Mate, I currently work for Fujitsu Services with mainly Siemens Kit supported from Germany, I have also spent years on the Coppermine Project with lots of German supporters so am well versed in the language differences and how you come accross (insert jokes about how Germans have no sense of humour). But sadly I do not speak German (nor English that well lol) so the Joomshopping forums for me are very lacking. It is lucky we have a native German speaker who is getting to knwo Joomshopping here to help…
As for Tiris I do think it is a fantastic template, one of JA’s best along with Kranos and Nex.

February 29, 2012 at 5:26 am #440793Hi All
Thanks for your understanding; my BGL’s were up around 30 mmol/l and it does get hard to concentrate up that high, however 20 units of novarapid every 3 hrs, food and 80 units of Lantus solarstar saw bed at 4:30 am with a better level of 17.@phill
You are cruel, talking of chokky etc. When for me any soft drink adds 15 points to my levels let’s not even think about ice cream or cake /dessertsI DO like Tiris as a template as well as Nex, I’m in the same boat as you, Phil, my knowledge of German (even after 4 yrs at school learning it, with no one out of school classes to practice on) left me embarrassingly deficient when I spent 2 weeks travelling there in 1988.
The locals must’ve thought I was retarded given I can only say left right up doen north south etc and count to 10 LOLWritten German is a no no for me. So I couldn’t get anywhere on the Joomshopping forums. @ swissa. I agree it looks great and probably has all the good features, but with the devs saying no fee no support (basically) the learning curve for me would be an expensive excercise
Blessings Shane -
