December 7, 2009 at 3:39 pm #146661This is a pet peeve for me…and perhaps it is just an American cultural thing.
In the scrolling module occupying the JA-TOP position…the navigation arrows currently show and cause the direction in which the content will move scroll.
HOWEVER in America, perhaps elsewhere, when I see content navigation arrows such at that I’m expecting the content to be REVEALED from the Right. In other words, I would click the right arrow for the content to move to the LEFT so that I can see what was hidden on the RIGHT.
Again this may be a cultural thing (which side of the road do you drive on)…so perhaps a setting in the back in which the direction of the scrolling could be set?
Thanks!

December 7, 2009 at 4:55 pm #325951nah I don’t agree, I think the buttons are the right way round… can we do a poll on this?
I imagine it’s something fairly easy to edit anyway.

I too have always had the same impression of the scrolling. Always felt like it went the wrong way, but assumed it was just me. I click the arrows and expect the exact opposite to happen.

December 8, 2009 at 2:53 pm #326057Dear jbrett,
I think it wont be difficult to find a solution for this. I would request some time before a solution for alternative / reverse scrolling (as desired by you) can be arranged. Marking this thread to JA Developer for consideration and solution.
A yes or no is assured on this case from Developers.

December 9, 2009 at 12:29 am #326113I spent 10 minutes looking for the pause button….until I realised my mouse was hovering over the left arrow, it’s late

December 10, 2009 at 1:46 am #326246Hi jbrett
I have tried to find your issue but could not find in our demo site.
Could you send me the screenshots so that i could have a closer look on the issue?

December 11, 2009 at 7:39 pm #326359It’s not so much an issue as a suggestion.
What we are looking for is the ability to reverse the direction of the navigation buttons.(see URANI.jpg)
In Urani, and other Joomlart templates, the slideshow’s navigation buttons indicate the direction in which the slide will disappear …NOT in which the content will appear (if you push the left button…the slide disappears to the left revealing new content from the right). As a user, at least here in America…we are accustomed to the exact opposite. When we click the LEFT arrow…we expect new CONTENT to come FROM THE LEFT…as the slide moves to the RIGHT.
(see yahoo.jpg)
See the action of the slideshow navigation on Yahoo.com’s News page. Clicking on the left reveals content FROM the left…it does NOT send content to the left.
JA is NOT the only template house that puts out a slideshow with the navigation working like this. BUT if JA really wants to embrace the world…there should be a selector in the slideshow module where the administrator can decide which way the navigation moves.
BTW…high praise for being sensitive to RTL readers. Solving this navigation issue goes toward the exact the same type of cultural difference…that makes our world great. :))
