Just wondering about the global vs local preferences. I thought the global set all and then in articles you could change for a specific post. When I change the local nothing seems to change.
Simple questions I couldnt find in search.
Is there a way to change the hit count… I think I saw it in k2, but not in articles.
I was asking because my articles seem to be ordering in my home area by largest hit count and cant get it to change?

I don’t think you can change the hit count value manually,it’s auto increased each time you hit an item to view it.John Wesley Brett ModeratorJohn Wesley Brett

October 1, 2012 at 12:02 pm #468742At the moment there is no “Button” to push to reset hit counts in Joomla content (com_content).
It’s one of those frustrating things about the platform that users complain about…but no one seems to be hearing at Joomla HQ.In K2 – our cries have been heard and it IS included in every single article.
http://screencast.com/t/9ndlnTdqCDFor Joomla articles you need to do the following:
- Back-up your site’s main database. Try Admin Tools by AkeebaBackup
- Log into your site’s hosting cPanel
- Open the database management i.e. phpMyAdmin
- Locate the content table on the left and open
- JOOMLA ARTICLES: jos_content table
- Look for your article or item in the list then click the Edit icon
- Manually set Hits back to zero…or whatever.
As for Global vs. Local Settings…it can be confusing. It is a trickle down from top to bottom…but the ARTICLE GLOBAL is NOT the top. You still must look at CATEGORY parameter…and even higher than that the MENU ITEM parameters.
I’ll bet that is where you are having the problems.Good Luck!

October 1, 2012 at 12:23 pm #468744Actually.. there is a plugin for Joomla articles that does reset or even manually set the amount of hits. In a way, it’s way more advanced than what K2 offers but K2’s method allow for easier front end administration.
Here’s the download link to the Joomla Plugin that reset hits / set hits by per article.
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/analytics/content-statistics/21398As for the article order. I believe he needs to go to Menu Item->Blog Layout Options->Article Order. The default setting is set to order by “most hits”.

October 1, 2012 at 8:55 pm #468790arucardx: yours solution sounds simpler,
I am leary to install any plugins with JA wall being so new. Have you used it with ja wall template?
also when I go to menu item there isnt a Blog Layout Options-
Are you referring to the menu manager – menu item?October 1, 2012 at 9:08 pm #468791@Sherlock Holmes 340517 wrote:
which options are you mentioning ? and how did you changed it in Global ?

In the article manager options, under shared options.
These settings apply for Shared Options in List, Blog and Featured unless they are changed by the menu settings.Category Order – i have category order
Article Order – most recent, but it still seems to be putting them by hit count
Date for Ordering

October 2, 2012 at 2:39 am #468806Yes, go to menu manager, find the menu item that’s linked to your page, click on and there should be a blog layout options on the right if the menu item type is category blog or featured. Expand it and you will find that Article Order is set to Most Hit instead of Use Global so just change it.
As for the plugin, that’s a backend Joomla plugin and JA Wall is a frontend template, so I don’t see the issue.

ss
Currently I cannot think of any way of doing that. There is certainly no feature built in. The ordering is set in Joomla and we are just using a special category layout here. Good idea though.
